They are not now allowed the WFA unless they live somewhere colder than the UK.

Or unless the government has fiddled the figures to make it seem as if it's colder.;)

So - please - where is the Moneysaving forum for them?

I know this has been moved away from the over 50s board but, IIRC there was a long standing ex pat thread already on there - perhaps it might be a good idea to revive (and possibly expand) that.

If there's enough demand for a board for ex-pats, why not?

It wouldn't be of direct relevance to me these days. That said, there are many parts of MSE which hold no relevance to my life, and which hold no interest for me.

But they are obviously of relevance and interest to others, so I'm not going to be churlish about the fact they exist.

Any comments and 'advice' from members of an ex-pat board would be subject to the usual MSE caveats about 'anyone can post here' so exercise caution.
  • Hi,

Thanks for moving this over Savvy_Sue.

Moneymaker, if you can get expats to come and use the site and Forum and tell us they'd like their own space to discuss issues that relate to them we could certainly consider it :)

At the moment, though, the percentage of users visiting MSE from abroad is very small.

Meanwhile, can you link in here to the thread. It'll be useful for anyone seeing this thread who might want to see it.

    Thank you :)

    I'm slightly surprised by that.

I imagine most of the spammers are from abroad, like on other forums.

But more significantly quite a lot of people will be using browsers which indicate as if they are abroad, such as Opera, most often showing Norway or Iceland but also other places.

edit: oh, I just did tests on some websites, and both home and the Opera proxy address are available.
