I'm just waiting for AF now, should be here in 4 days I think, but so long as it arrives before 1/3 we are on for next month.
  • Hi All,

Munchkin How long are your cycles usually? I'm just thinking if you're usually short anyway it might be early AF, but if you're normal - long could be implantation bleeding? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you either way.

I've just had a doctors appointment about something unrelated to TTC (I'm forever anemic and need 600mg ferrous sulphate daily just to keep the balance). I got talking to my lovely doctor about TTC and we ended up talking about chickenpox. I've never had chickenpox (at 28 I know its unusual) so she's asked me to hold off TTC just whilst I have some blood tests done so that she can check if I'm immune or will need a vaccine. Apparently they don't give the vaccine to pregnant women and chickenpox during mid-late pregnancy can be pretty dangerous. The vaccine is in two doses four weeks apart and we cant TTC until four weeks after the last dose - It'd be pants to have to loose two months but I'd rather have the vaccine than risk it.

Anyone on here had any experiences of chickenpox and pregnancy?

    BD to all.

  • Thanks Nelliepie.
I’m usually 28 day cycles so spotting a week early.
Feel so sick but that’s probably a migraine.
I’ve had a weird week, got made redundant and had family in hospital so everything is all over the place at the minute so my body is probably just going nuts.
I’m not holding my breath for a bfp and now I’m not working I don’t know if TTC would be a good idea.

I've never had chickenpox and there was never any mention of it when I was pregnant with my first. In fact my wee girl had them when she was 11 months old and I didn't get them so I'm presuming I'm immune! I'm 27.

Could I be moved to if in doubt zone please. AF is over for another month!
  • Oh heck, I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant and not had chicken pox - it's not been mentioned to me at all. I'm 31 and have managed to avoid it :) My GP was aware when I was TTC due to my issues and didn't mention it (he's normally terribly thorough)

I keep thinking that at some point, this LO will be a toddler, they will bring it home, I will finally catch it and it's gonna knock me sideways (whilst I've got a toddler to care for). I will ask at my next appointment, though I guess by the time you get to the midwife it's too late so perhaps there's no point in them asking patients?
  • Due to the anemia and a few other issues my doctor went through everything she could think of - she did assume I'd already had it but warned about issues with shingles. So maybe most doctors assume most people trying for a baby have already had it - I think it's quite uncommon not to. Honestly though after all of the horror stories I've heard about how horrid it is as an adult I don't mind the suggestion of a vaccine even if it means we'll have to wait two months. Lavender I wouldn't worry too much unless you're likely to be exposed to it, but if you're worried it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Munchkin Sorry to hear about your family, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Without being too nosey, are you in a situation where you could get a new job fairly quickly or you (and your other-half) would be ok with you not working for a while with regards to his/her earnings or savings? I'm sure I don't need to point out that stress can have all sorts of effects on hormones - try to stay calm and relax.

  • Thanks,
Yeah we’ll be ok if I don’t get a job for a few months. But I’ll go crazy if I don’t work.
At least I’ll get more time for wedding planning.

T4taylor thats great news about the well timed weekend away! The trial of OPKs sounds great too, how did you find out about that?

Munchkin84 Sorry to hear about the redundancy. I actually have no idea whether Ive had chickenpox, definitely something to check with my parents next time I see them!

Sorry for being MIA for a few days. I went to visit family then I was really poorly with a sickness bug yesterday. Seems myself and my husband have been rotating being ill for two weeks now! Fingers crossed that's the last of it!

Please let me know if I have your CD is wrong, or you need changing zones. :)
