Rachy I get the feelings about how you say you think its never going to happen. I feel like I am never going to see a positive pregnancy test I can't imagine two lines ever showing.

I had a way of looking at it that helped me, which was that each month we only have one 'go' at something that only has a 25% chance of actually happening. So if you look back and think, ok I have only had 8 'goes' that doesn't seem as bad its just the fact its a whole month each time which makes it seem longer.

I can completely appreciate how you feel and I think sometimes its good to let it all out, allow your self to feel like !!!! and hate the world then start again in a few days. The first day of AF always hits me hard then it doesn't seem that long before we start going again.
    xx
  • I know how you feel. I want to feel positive about this cycle but then I think 'don't get your hopes up' and then I think 'you have to think positive' and get in this weird cycle which probably won't help.
Going to try SMEP this month then if that's not successful I think I'll just try not to focus on it in December then other half is away again for 6weeks then I think it'll be time to start thinking about a doctors visit if nothing has happened early next year.
Like you Rachy, I feel that time is not on my side.
  • Thanks for all your supportive comments

A0503 - I do agree that I need to stop thinking in terms of months and rather cycles as it doesn't seem as bad. I lost 2 cycles due to already conceiving and so all in all, it's only 8 cycles and even one of those was post MC so probably not a normal one. I imagine this is completely normal for a couple too.

Munchkin - I only managed SMEP once and it worked. The other cycles have been affected by work commitments and me getting a UTI. I am so angry at the fact that we haven't been able to fulfil this plan but I also think I am just wanting to blame something :(
  • Can I finally be updated to 1dpo please. Looking back at the past few months I think I OV around about CD late 20's - early 30's so promise to stop posting the same s!!t every month when OV hasn't arrived. Just glad I've been tracking now.

We've just been away for a couple of days and managed to dtd at optimum times I think. I'm not using OPK's just tracking but still feel we've done enough.

Rachy sorry you're still going through it. I only hope you gain from your counselling as much as I did. It really did help me. Also hope your GP gets a wiggle on and things get moving.

I'm glad my poas addiction is so bad. I refuse to buy FRER because I couldn't afford them at the rate I buy pg tests. I'm gonna stick with cheapies, they seem to be the most consistent, I've heard some not so great things about FRER.

athens Yay :) i found tracking a couple of months ago just to check where my body was "at" really helped.

Sorry AF has arrived rachy and peppacoin :(
rachy I truly hope that the counselling is helping and you begin to see some light!! Is it an option to look at going private for a few appointments to get you in the system of being checked over? Even if it is after your DH's redundancy possibility time is over? I believe they can then refer you back in to the NHS once things are under way, just a thought!!

  • Rachy I really had my fingers crossed for you, sorry to hear.

As Newthrift says, I know the timing is carp, but would you be in a position to pay for some initial fertility tests privately that would rule anything out? That's what I'm planning to do if my GP is no use when I have my appointment in November. Its a little over £200 at my local one and one of them has a free 'open day' (obviously marketing but useful to know about next steps).

I also get really miserable when I read these stories of people that have tried for years as a) I don't think my emotional health would cope with that and (b) time is not on my side either. I would listen to your OH and buy some dearer tests as a back up. I bought some really cheap tests on amazon that helped me deal with disappointment without waiting too long. Superdrug own generally worked as well.
Saving for a deposit. £5440 of £11000 saved so far:j
  • Well I've booked a GP appointment on Wednesday so will see what she says about help before I go down the route of checking private health clinics. It probably still is too early for that even though I feel so rubbish.

Hopefully your GP is more helpful this time and I hope the counselling helps you offload.

I'm still waiting for AF to arrive. I feel a bit more crampy and period-y today so I am impatiently waiting so I can move on from this cycle. I was due yesterday so am a day late which has happened before.

Great news about ovulating Athens, tracking and monitoring really does help x
