visa debit card chargeback

Options
Hi all, my first post so please bear with me as I try and navigate around site,

Anyhow here goes with my query, as I can't seem to find any info online regarding this area,
I was wondering if I can apply for a chargeback against a active company in the travel, tourist and holiday sector my dispute is with a local company to my area who's profession is the private hire sector
Through our local travel agent we booked a holiday package for 10+people abroad which covered everything, we used a airport transfer company in the UK which was part of the package. On the day off departure we arrived at our local airport drop off zone via minibus and made our way to the airport terminal when I noticed we had left a bag on the minibus which happen to be the most important bag (passports etc etc).
I noticed very quickly it was gone and tried phoning the company as am sure the minibus was still in the airport grounds but to no prevail, we as a family of five had to miss our flight, purchase new tickets for the next day which were not cheap either, to meet up with the rest of our families for a once in a lifetime get together.

As I have tried to recoup my financial losses since October last year, going from using the travel agents complaint procedures, plus sending letters and emails to also to try and back up our case the company said the onus was on us as I should off made sure the minibus was clear off our belongings, my complaint is that firstly yes I admit some responsibility as I should off but I think they should take responsibility for not answering the phone calls when I noticed, the company webpage does say that they offer a 24 hour service although in the letter they say they do not man phones 24/7, this company does not reply directly via emails or letter but sends them to the travel agents after directly trying to contact them myself.

Since all this and up to this date, I have been in contact with my local citzens advice, local council as it was a private hire so questioned the liscensing board, trading standards, traffic commissioner also company house as the headed paper contract I have is from a company that is dissolved and no longer registered on there website.

As a consumer can I try and claim on my visa debit card for charge back in this instance.failing that I am unsure in which direction to head next as I have been passed from pillar to post, I am not going to let this lie until I have exhausted every option and avenue available.

Thank you in advance for any replies
Sorry if post goes on a bit lol
Thanks again

    should have

I don't see any fault of the supplier of the services, hence there is absolutely no case for a chargeback.

MSE article: Visa, Mastercard & Amex Chargeback

Theoretically, this can be covered by the travel insurance, but you have to read the T&C thoroughly yourself as all insurers are notorious for fobbing off customers even with genuine claims, let alone questionable.

IMO this is your problem entirely and its ridiculous to attempt to claim, let alone claim what is consequential damages.

FWIW I once did something remarkably similar and equally careless though after arriving and it didn't even occur to me I could apparently have made a claim against Hertz for my extra trip to and from the rental depot to pick up the case I'd left behind, and there's the wasted day of my holiday. I just thought "what a berk, must be more careful".

And that's what I'd say to you.

Thanks for yet response, the thought has went through my head, but the more I complaint to other professional organisations then the more advice I hear makes it sound like it's a case worth pursuing

    Do you mean CAB?
IMO, the fact that they even suggested chargeback speaks for itself.

Cheers looks like it, company service was not up standard, took it on good faith as the travel agents recommended them at time, heard that 4 other families are in dispute with this hire company allegedly,

Think lesson learned here for me and to avoid this company in the future, they might be someone cup of tea when it comes to standards but definitely not mine

    Thanks again

I really can't believe that you think you have experienced poor customer service !!

YOU left the bag in the minibus. It's YOUR fault, no-one elses ! You don't need to avoid this company in the future, YOU shouldn't go out alone.

Soz Everyone entitled to their own opinion but a have to stick by what a said, yeah a would say it is poor customer as they state a 24 hour service yet fail to fulfill that promise hence phoning and no one answering their phone in the early hours of the morning which could of rectified the situation very quickly, secondly four other families in dispute with them hardly looks very favourable for the reputation of their company, you would be asking yourself would I be going with a company that has had bad reviews or a company that are second to none, usually I would check out reviews before hand but since it was part package of a holiday package then you sort of trust the travel agent with the finer details of the package, secondly when the travel agent says that they the private hire company is in the wrong and that they will probably honour all contracts up to that date with the hire company then look to getting another business to take on the side of airport transfers via that travel agents holiday packages, then I know I must be in the right somewhere down the line,

As a say everyone to there own opinion but on this matter I have to disagree with your post.

Thanks for the time and effect in replying all the same
