I am looking for boxes for my move as well and even though I thought this would be the easy part of the move - apparently not!
I have a small 1 bed flat with just me living in it and have been quoted between £300-£900 for removal and packing to a flat about 7 minutes away - I cannot believe it! Packing bundles are being quoted as around £50 for boxes, tape etc. So a lot more than I initially thought!!
Fingers crossed you have better luck than me:beer:Trying to make my way on my MSE adventure.. Debt free since June 2018:j

A lot of the boxes on the auction site are quite small! Will see what the removal companies quote, though wanted to start packing this weekend!
Was thinking about taping up the chest of drawers we use for clothes with the clothes still in..?! and the same with the wardrobes, not sure if that's a good idea or not!0 -
Banana boxes are great they are not too big so impossible to carry when loaded, stack on top of each other and can be obtained free from supermarkets and greengrocers. If you call in and ask they will save some for you.0

I got hold of around 50 boxes from a mate that works in a warehhouse and reckon it'll be bang o for my 3 bed semi. Boxes are about 12x16x22 inches and load up well. Some are almost too heavy so I wouldn't want many bigger ones than that.0

That sounds incredibly expensive, especially outside London. Have you tried packing your own boxes and getting a 'man with van' quote instead?0 -
Our local Sainsburys has a box area where you can take them for free0
-
As others have said - supermarket boxes.
Or, how do you get any deliveries where you work? I just pick mine up from there. Flatten them, carry them home and tape them back at. Obviously some workplaces get more deliveries than others but since they have to pay to dispose of them they tend not to mind people taking them!0 -
Can you get any from work from deliveries or can any of your family? I just asked stores at my work to keep them for me, OH and my dad did the same and we were overrun with boxes!
Facebook is a good idea, I'm sure some of your friends will be able to get them from work even if you can't.0 -

Ask removal company when they quote. The ones that moved us left stuff in the drawers but emptied the wardrobes.0 -
Our removal firm supplied them. They didn't want us to use our own, they said boxes of different sizes were harder to stack. Have you asked your removal firm ?0
