Parcel was stolen - what do?

Options
OK i ordered a tent on eBay
Dispatched with ETA 1st April - 3rd April

It was actually delivered on the 31st March, but i was not in, the courier FedEx left it with a neighbour who i had never met before.

Yesterday i asked where my parcel was in eBay and was surprised to see it had been delivered on 31st with a signature of ? ????? who received it.

So, i go to their flat today and .....surprise again, they deny all knowledge of it, said it was not delivered to them, but on their front door it has their name - the same name who FedEx said had signed for it.

I have called the cops and they are coming round to take a statement on Wednesday - but what do i do in the meantime?? The tent is almost 70 pounds.

Is it up to the seller to refund me?
Will eBay refund me?

Or what? I do not know what to do, the seller only says "It was delivered with signature" and believes that is that i think.

Does anyone know what happens in this case or what i do next?
Owed out = lots.

You will lose a claim for INR as the item is showing as delivered.

You need to go back to the seller and explain it was not delivered to you. Give them all the information you have. They need to get onto Fedex and find out from the driver where the item was left. It's not uncommon for a driver to be asked to go back and try to get the item.

You could try Fedex, perhaps through social media, but you don't have the contract with them. Hence, why you need help from the seller. But, as you've opened a case, they may not be too helpful, particularly when they know they will be covered.

As above. Ebay and PayPal can't help as tracking shows it is delivered. You need to liaise with the seller to find out exactly what happened to your parcel and then the police if necessary.

So you can lose a case if your item was delivered to the wrong address?

    Seems ridiculous.

I do feel better about being so insistent on my items being delivered only to my address, even though in the case of Amazon the customer service is ridiculously good, and they would probably replace the item no questions asked.

If they did that, it would leave them completely wide open to fraud.

I believe they probably do leave themselves open to fraud. From dealing with their customer services there have been occasions where I have been given freebies or basically shown an open door to exploit them should I so wish.

Last week for example, I contacted to find out where something had been left, tracking said it had been delivered through the letterbox but this simply wasn't possible. I'm guessing the language barrier involved meant that my intentions weren't clear, I simply wanted them to contact the courier and find out which neighbour had the item, so I could arrange for family to collect. They kept asking if I wanted a replacement or a refund. I stopped replying but it would have been easy to get something for nothing with no effort.

Other times I left feedback on packaging and was told to keep the item and was refunded the entire cost. I really was just giving feedback and not looking for anything.

The seller needs to go to FedEx to find out where your parcel was delivered. If the neighbour then won't give it to you, you need to report the theft to the police. Make sure you have the statement from FedEx. it's for them to reimburse the seller and for the seller to then reimburse you. The contract is with them and the seller. Their appropriate action was to leave you a collection card, not to deliver it elsewhere contrary to the seller's instructions. Only your name and address are on the parcel.

You should give the seller the incident report of your complaint to the police. The courier company who have acted contrary to the seller's instructions will have to reimburse the seller.

Do Ebay not have the same guarantee, to cover your costs, as Amazon?

If you make a complaint to the police, make sure you include both the seller and the courier company in that complaint, not withstanding the complaint is a charge of theft against the neighbour.

It may be that FedEx have misled you as to where they left the parcel. It could also be that their employee has stolen it and forged the neighbour's signature.

Ultimately it is the courier company who have to pay for this, as they haven't delivered the item as per the seller's instructions. But they can only pay the seller, who then should be able to reimburse you.

If the seller doesn't cooperate then you need to raise the claim against EBay/Paypal

OK thanks, the seller has said they have asked FedEx to investigate and will get back to me when it is complete.

FedEx have also been to this persons house today who the package was left with, i don't know what happened. I guess they will tell the seller.

I informed the cops too, and i am making a statement tomorrow about it, i will be sure to include the seller and the recipient of the parcel to them and get a incident number.

Guess thats all i can do for now.

Since i have not received the item i am positive it will have to be dealt with under "Item Not Received" but who knows, i will update when i find out.

The parcel is showing as delivered, therefore you won't win.

Your best bet is fedex via the seller.
