    Hi,

Nothing done yet. Doing homework battling. Grrrrrrr....I wish it was acceptable to tie dd1 to the chair until the flipping stupid homework was done.

I know that feeling! I've confiscated DD's phone in the hope she'll get on better.

I have failed miserably with foloowing the lists but I do read. I am delurking to reply to nikki. sorry to hear about your drains and all the problems you are having. We had similar problems last year. Is it a shared drain? If it is I am sure it is the responsibilty of the water board. It may be worth ringing them and explaining the situation, our's were very helpful and came out that evening to assess the problem. They agreed it was their responsibilty and we are now trying to get the money back we paid the company who started the work when he shouldn't have (but that is a different story!). The water board should have a 24 hour phone number. I hope you manage to get it sorted soon.

I think it is shared drains as we live in a terraced house, but we are the end terrace so it could be private, its just trying to work out where the drain that is blocked is running now thats causing the problem. Upstairs seems to be draining freely, and when we flush the toilet it apparently doesn't effect the water level in the blocked drain, but we can't use the kitchen waste pipes as that cause the drains to flow back. I'm wondering if the sewer part under the manhole is a deadend and needs to be bailed out so they can see where things are running. There's a normal grid (like you get at the side of the road) in the alleyway which it could be poured into its just whether they would do it.

I'm waiting on the fella to arrive within the hour after I had to ring him again this morning. I've had a look at UU website and if this can't be sorted by the builder today then I'll be ringing UU straight away. Its all down to whether the pipe connects to next door in the other direction or not....

No idea what's going to happen today. I'm hoping the blockage can be cleared and we can get on with stuff. I really really need to have a shower and do some laundry!! :o

Oh joy, the blockage is not on our property so now we have to wait for united utilities to turn up to inspect it. I agree with the builder that it looks like the sewer in the alleyway has collapsed and is causing the blockage. Its going to be a long few days. :(:(

Nicki Oh no I hope UU turn up quickly.

I have tried my hand at plumbing today as my kitchen sink was slow to empty. There was a small clump of hair in the u bend but I can't imagine where from as I don't wash my hair in the kitchen. Kitchen now smells of drains :o
Water level in drain outside seems higher than it should be so I may have to ring the water board too.

Nicki if you lived near me, I'd offer you use of our bath, just so that you could have a relax in some nice hot water without worrying about drains.

    You couldn't make it up...

Arrived at work later than usual due to heavy traffic (which I have commented on before, seems to be a Friday thing) to be greeted with 'you're late' from a colleague, in front of the head...then she backtracked because I wasn't actually late just later than usual.

At the end of the day she told me about all the members of her family, what cancer they had had yada yada

    !!!!!! happened to tact?
