hi
im getting really worried as i complete in a couple of days (have exchanged already). Virgin media who i was with in my previous property decided without my permission or me signing anything to start a new contract for broadband for my new place which hasnt completed yet. they send texts and emals about the new contract and that they will install it next week and even a new direct debit on my bank account (which i cancelled)!!! i am furious and am wondering if this will affect my mortgage offer as i heard they do a final credit check?
Obviously this is not my fault at all and completely shocking how virgin media behave. i cancelled my previous contract as i have sold the property and nwo they assume i am going ahead when i clearly just cancelled and didnt sign a new contract. i called them and cancelled the new contract telling them i never even agreed ot it.
can someone advice on whether it will affect the mortgage offer? concerned about virgin media having done a credit check and also i cancelled the new direct debit so was wondering if they will try take money out of my account and they cant do so then my credit report looks bad just before completion?
thanks

Perhaps I've missed something, but how do Virgin Media know what your new address will be? I cancelled a subscription with them due to a house move and faced no issues at all.0

As you've already got to this stage I would have thought the mortgage stands and they won't do any further credit checks.0

i was thinking about using them at my new place so gave the address to check availability. definately did not agree or sign anything and suddenly i get emails/texts saying they will install it and also they have setup a direct debit! this just shows how bad virgin media are and i am getting extremely furious just thinking if this would affect my offer.0 -
I assume you've been on the phone to virgin media to get the new account/move cancelled?0

yes i did and i called back again just to make sure and they say its cancelled over the phone but when i ask for email confirmation they say they cant send emails. my online vrgin media account doesnt show anything has been added.
but i keep getting texts from them saying installation date is this day do you accept. so so so annoying. i really do not trust them at all. very dodgy company.0 -
How would this affect your mortgage if it's simply the renewal/continuation of an ongoing service that you already pay for?0
-
its not, i cancelled it after i sold my property. i called them a couple of weeks later to let them know iw as thinking of getting broadband with them again at the new property and then few days later it appears they setup a new diect debit and scheduled an installation at the new property without my permission,0

So cancel the direct debit and cancel the service. How is this going to affect the mortgage offer?0
