Yep, I have asked about going to the store , see my latest post

The only reason I'm staying with them as I get 30% discount via my company.I wanted to speak to the line manager and ask for an upgrade from ip6 (which are out of stock ) to ip6s . The delivery jokefest is only half of it..basically since last weds I'm on still on the the wrong price plan to which what was agreed by the bxllshixing retentions rep also with an ip6 16g phone, which should of been an 64g phone which was also agreed by the same rep, along with a couple of other things..after 2 calls (atleast 30 mins long and repeated Q and A ) which they have admitted in both conversations that I'm on the wrong plan plus insisted on delivering the wrong phone, which I need to exchange when they deliver the correct one.

Don't carry on wasting your time - things will always get worse and NO-ONE will call you back as promised. See the main Vodafone complaints thread and follow the instructions to contact the WRT. Or be on here forever...

Can you explain why you have purchased this phone from Vodafone? If you went to your local Apple store (or for that manner any other appropriate store) then they would simply sell you one off the shelf.

What do you mean...'can you explain....', it was bought as part of a package deal, simple as that...no explanation necessary is there?

I'm sure that the OP realises that he could get the phone cheaper as a standalone, but that would mean purchasing outright whereas he has bought himself some time paying in instalments (albeit at a likely inflated monthly fee)

I originally went to the store, but they could not get anywhere near the retentions dep deal...saying that, the retentions rep offered the deal of
4g data unlimited txt and mins and 64g ip6, plus a case .. No up front fees , £28 pm plus credit of £24 so basically makes it £27 pm 24m contract
What I actually got was 2g data unlimited txt and mins and 16g ip6 and the same costs.. I still have the 16g phone on my table unopened and still on the wrong plan
I done a few quick sums of paying up front for the handset and sim, but it worked out a lot more over the 2 years, so no brainer
Btw when speaking to cs to sort this mess out, they said they don't have cases to give to customers, I wrote everything down that the retentions guy had offered, either he was full of bs, or there system needs to get a grip.
Ps I get 30% discount with VF , hence why I chose them

    Tony5101,
I think deano72's post (#16) probably suggests that it isn't a no brainer at all!

It is always better to buy the device independently of the MNO. He would have saved himself a 24 month obligation, a load of wasted time and stress, a device locked to a single network and a bunch of broken promises... given that he hasn't got the tariff he was after, the device he was after and the phone case he was after.

    No brainer? Pfff!

Not everyone can afford to shell out £539 in one lump though, and that's the point.
Assuming that VF get their act together and provide what was promised/quoted, it doesn't sound a bad financial deal to me.
Exclude the phone cost out of the monthly tariff x 24, you're left with approx £4.50 per month, for 4GB data, unlimited minutes and texts. Show me where I can get that for £4.50 as a sim only customer (excluding cash back deals etc., as not relevant in this case)
VF will unlock the phone for free after 12 months, so the 'deal' doesn't sound too shabby to me.
  • Well financialy it's a no brainer
Done some calcs, but this was based on a plan before I knew I could get 30% discount with vf, £32 pm 4g data unlimited txt/mins 16g ip6 and if I was to buy phone and sim for simular deal it would leave me approx £300 to buy the phone, I couldn't find ip6 for that anywhere,
With the 30% off deal I'm ment to be on that would leave even less (approx £120) to buy ip6 64g, if u can buy one for that, I'll take my hat off to u

Slight change of plan anyway, as ip6 is out of stock, now agreed to ip6+
Same plan and no up front costs £31pm
Let's hope it turns up and end of saga!
  • Sorry,ment 6s not 6+
