I started vountung steps when I heard that 10,000 steps a day, which is commonly held to be 5 miles, is a great target 5 tines a week for both weightloss & general health. Steps make more sense to me as if I'm walking into town, I know how many miles it is but if I'm doing, say, a circuit of the castle, a walk up the riverside & 3 circuits of the park, I've no idea how far that is.
In my case, 10,000 steps doesn't equal 5 miles as I'm not very tall & my stride is shorter than average. But it's much better for me to walk & garden than do nothing as I've been an exercise dodger for most of my life.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Thanks Lego mum for the warning about it taking a while to recover, ds started to become unwell nearly 3 weeks ago he is still lacking energy and doesn't eat as much as normal.
Like Foxgloves I'm short and I need to do more steps to make a mile. Measuring steps imo gives a more realistic calculation of how much exercise someone has actually done. Generally i need to increase my fitness levels and being aware of how many steps (or how few) I take seems like a good place to start. Saying that currently walking as far as the kitchen is tiring me out and makes my legs ache.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hello :hello:
I am totally in awe of you Ally - how much you can do without spending much money. I still haven't fixed the hole in my front door
It's gone on the annoying list.
BB - sorry to hear that you're all so poorly still. Hope that you're all on the up soon.
Foxgloves - I hope that the car isn't too spendy for you.

relax and be kind to myself and others around me :rotfl:I am interested in the whole concept of steps. I don't understand why people measure them instead of just how far they walked in miles or kms?
I shamelessly confess to earning Bounts points if I walk 7000 steps a day, which is the main reason it is my goal. However, I do have km walked as well, and I find the little heart rate monitor feeds my inner hypochondriac beautifully. Always like to know if I'm approaching heart attack level or anything
Also some people have Apps which give rewards proportional to the number of steps taken.
I forced the kids out in the rain for a walk round the park and ds got soaked to the bone going down the slide in jeans. This started the loss of nsd buying him new trousers and pants, so I went on and did the top up shop as well. Not giving up
