Argos 30 day money back guarantee appears to be not applicable to TVs

Advanced apologies if this is the wrong place, it's my first post. I really hope someone can advise.
We bought a TV from argos after unpacking it (first mistake according to argos's guarantee rules) and plugging it in (second mistake 'using'it), we discovered the picture quailty was so bad, it's blurry on every setting and variation we tried, including hd and sd. It's so bad after a few minutes watching it I had a headache, which is a first for me!
It was bought by debit card and 30 days since delivery haven't passed. We did order it to be delivered and due tovisiting family and the fact we though argos would honour their 30 day gurantee, we didn't think to cancel the order within 14 days.
Argos over the phone and via twitter refuse to take it back. On the phone we where told to take it to store where someone in store would give a second opinion. Online they are saying we need to consult the technical team.
Can anyone advise how we can get argos to take the 'simply brillant' (that's what it says on the box) headache inducing tv back? We've mentioned statutory rights, but they just don't seem to get it!

Hi recently hired a small mini combo van but we were given a Vauxhall vivara transit style. They had no other vehicles available. This was a 17 day hire to Wales. I am disabled and climbing into/out of the vehicle wold prove painful and difficult. We were told this was all they had or nothing at all and were told this complaint would be logged. The hire company have offered £40 voucher and told we were upgraded and that's it. We were unable to park this vehicle in most spots in rural Wales as it was so big, the rear did not lock, most blue badge carparks did not accept this vehicle size, and it severely impaired our holiday as it caused me a great deal of pain. We have in writing the report from the booking agent that we did not accept the alternative but had no choice. There is nothing more they are prepared to do. Do we claim back from our Credit card that we originally paid for the hire?0

Ive just done the same regarding your post..... we purchased a Denon system from Argos and had problems, we took it an Argos store as they said they would need to inspect it (they generally look to see if you've dropped it etc) and no quibble as was well inside their guarantee but outside the 14 days etc they swapped it and gave us a £10 voucher to use in store. I have to say they were very good. I hope this helps0

Start your own thread, but before doing so consider that you appear to have accepted the vehicle offered. Looks like we might have to chance taking it to store, hopefully we will get a positive outcome :-)0

A little flummoxed over your parking claim as I have never encountered one car park that wouldn't accept a transit style van in a disabled parking spot, after all the parking spaces are bigger than normal spaces and there's plenty of disabled organizations that use transit style vehicles to transport groups on days out etc.
And as already said by another member, you used the van so therefore excepted it...if you had refused and not driven off with it you may of had a claim.0 -
Just realised I can't return the tv to store, it won't fit in my car. I doubt it will fit in anyone's car I know :-(
Argos did deliver surely they should collect?
Also find it very dodgy that they won't say if tv's are excluded from their 30 day money back gurantee. They just keep sending me to the returns page and tv's are not listed as not covered by the guarantee. If they are hiding behind the unused bit, that's weak after all you have to unpack and plug in a tv to check it works.
Been told after 2 days of messages on twitter a manager will call me tonight/tomorrow, hopefully I can get some sense out of them :-/0 -
That depends if you are returning it because it is faulty or just not as good as you would like.Just realised I can't return the tv to store, it won't fit in my car. I doubt it will fit in anyone's car I know :-(

My son bought me a combi tv about three weeks ago and the quality was so poor I took it back last Friday into the store, no receipt but I had reserved a better one that cost £29.01 extra. I paid this and swapped tv's, she asked if the tv didn't work, I said it did but it was really poor quality. There was no questions asked after that, I paid the extra £29.01 and walked away with a new ( better tv, not a combi), and was also given a gift card for £10!
So I went back next day and bought a DVD player with the gift card and only had to pay £15. Bargain!
This was at Argos.KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0 -

Did you order it online or did you order it in store for home delivery? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Ordered online for home delivery.
We are not sure if it's a faulty or poor quailty but the pictures so blocky/blurred on both standard definition and high definition it's unwatchable. Surely no matter what price is paid for a tv it should be watchable?0
