  • sorry am at work only just able to reply. My policy was with payment shield then went to st andrews and then halifax....

I was insured for only 40,000 contents not sure about the buildings.
  • flame cloud do you work for insurance companies
  • Yes, I do!

Your policy was with paymentshield, however they cannot underwrite the policy.

St Andrews (trading name of Halifax for insurance underwriting) underwrites the policy.

So if you need policy admin doing (change of name, address, premuim) then you speak to payment shield

If you need any info on a claim, then you need to speak to Halifax.
  • out of curiosity what insurance company do you work for.

We have had endless problems with the building works carried out on our house, minimal input from halifax at the beginning of the claim etc and currently have a complaint going through.

The builders where cowboys and we had so many problems, so many phonecalls to put things right, loads of time off work to have meetings with the builders which halifaxhardly turned up for.

Is this normal procedure would you say
  • I've worked for HBOS for years and did not know anything about its link to payment sheild - always thought it was rubbish

The Halifax home insurance policy is so much better than it, and its unlimited. any reason you did not take that lisaburton? EDIT - just read that they took it over.

St Andrew's is a HBOS company.

I work for HBOS in the SI department.

The PS isnt par se that bad (3* rating, which I believe is top 50-75% of policies) but in comparison to the much vaunted MOR product it is. Its real problem is that current policies are underwritten by somebody who has no real need to keep the business hence the policy wording is followed down to the letter.

The reason she would have taken it becuase her mortgage broker would have told her it was the best policy on this green earth (whilst neglecting to mention either its problems or the fact that the comission on it is about 3 times anything else)

PS tend to sell policies to people who cannot get regular mortgages (there are acceptions though) and unfortunatly these tend to not read policy documentation until claim time.
