Loan to Friend-what shall I do?

That was pretty much my thought. just reading the original post just now!
Both myself and my wife have lent money to friends in the past and always been repaid, actually had significant unsolicited offers of loans from friends as well when we were buying our first property recently as well (which we didn't take them up on).
My definition of "friend" is probably different to most people's though, these are people I've known well for decades, people I've known for a few years fall very much in the "acquaintances" bucket for me
