Sorry op, but expensive insurance is a fact of life for young males... all us blokes have been there...
Just shop around for the best deal and use Quidco, but expect to pay a fair whack!

Somone told me recently that some insurers offer policies for young drivers which restrict driving to certain times of the day (i.e. no driving after 10pm) as a way of reducing policy premiums. Does anyone know which insurers offer these policies?
P.S. Quinn Direct also came out cheapest for me on confused.com.0 -
Tried tesco on the net to go on my dads but still came up with a crazy quote.
Would it be cheaper to ring them?0 -
Thanks for the help
Im still looking around and still getting crazy quotes0 -
Presumably you've tried the comparison sites - see Martin's article.
My two sons both got insurance at 17 - one with Direct Line and the other with Churchill. Their circumstances were exactly the same (students, living at home etc) and they even had similar cars - Metro - one was an N reg and one a P reg but for some reason Direct Line was cheaper for Son#1 in 2001 and then Churchill was cheaper for Son#2 four years later. They both found something around the £1000 level from memory.
So take the time to shop around - it will pay off.0 -

Around the £1000 mark seems about average for 17/18 year olds car insurance on a group 1 car.
My son and his step-sister both have same year ford fiesta.
His is a 1.1 and hers is a 1.3 their insurance costs are identical. He would have to pay £300 more to insure the 1.3 fiesta.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I'm in the same boat with my 17 yrs old son. If we insure his car in our name with him as named driver its £2500:eek:
If we insure in his name its £1200:eek: with Quinns. It's a P reg Fiesta 1.3. Tried all the ones above and they all came up with £2500 in his name. Alot of companies wont even touch him...
He has had a licence for nearly a year and a moped but they won't even take that into account. He only paid £200 for the car!!!!!You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0
