Sky deals for existing customer

Watch them!! We had a faulty Sky+ box replaced under warranty. A few months ago Sky kept reporting that our box wasn't connected to the phone line (which it is) and eventually started charging us 2 full subscriptions. When we demanded that an engineer come and check the box to prove that it was connected to the phone line he came and couldn't get it to connect. Then he turned the box over and there was a sticker on the bottom marked "faulty".I've got a faulty box and they said that someone would come out to fix it for £60.00 I threatened to cancel, and now he's coming out to fix it for free!!!
It turned out that the Sky engineer who replaced our first box under warranty had given us a customer returned faulty box in exchange - and presumably told Sky he'd given us a new one and then kept it for himself? The replacement box had never worked properly from day 1!!
At least the 2nd engineer DID give us a new and unused box this time (and a more recent model to boot). You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
I have the old sky+ box:o which doesn't have the sky anytime on it...so at christmas as I am getting a new HD ready LCD TV I was thinking of getting a HD box but then I thought well I could actually get 2 sky+ boxes as we have multiroom... for the same price as a HD box so think that's what I might do...:DI love sky+...:j:D
Pls be nice to all MSer's
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
Tomorrow never come's as today is yesterday and tomorrow is today
MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW MSer's:xmastree:0 -
Although presumably you'd be locked in to another 12 month contract if you rejoined?Sky don't seem to be offering any good deals for existing subscribers at the moment. there may be better deals if you cancel and then contact them a few weeks later.
Also, if you can do without sky for a month or two, they sometimes contact you with special offers.0 -

If you go onto Ebay you will get a brand new SKY HD box for £185 delivered. They come with 1 year guarantee and are EXACTLY the same ones as Sky give you.0 -
i phoned up sky say 3 months ago and threatend to cancel ect they offerd me free sky+ and instilation so i was very happy and ive had previous price deals too in the past ,,,Sky are putting their prices up. However, if you phone up and threaten to cancel, they will keep your price at it's current level for 6 months.
I phoned yesterday and threatened to cancel, hoping for some kind of 1/2 price for 6 months deal, but the best I got was that they would not increase my package price for 6 months.
Has anyone got any better deals?

Don't forget that to get these to work you need to turn the power on the RF outlet. To do this, follow these steps:
On your Sky remote:
Press 'SERVICES'.
Press number keys 4, 0, 1. Then press 'SELECT'.
This will bring the engineers menu up, so careful what you do here...
Press number key 4 for 'RF OUTLETS'
Set the RF power to 'ON'.
Save new settings.
The red light on your magic eye should then turn on (assuming you've plugged the coaxial lead into the right 'powered' outlet on the back of your box.
That's worked for me for all of my Sky and Sky+ boxes, but I couldn't vouch for HD boxes, best to post on the techie forum I guess.Penny Wise Pound Stupid0
