Sky deals for existing customer

Sky are putting their prices up. However, if you phone up and threaten to cancel, they will keep your price at it's current level for 6 months.
I phoned yesterday and threatened to cancel, hoping for some kind of 1/2 price for 6 months deal, but the best I got was that they would not increase my package price for 6 months.
Has anyone got any better deals?

SKY have just recently put up their prices, so another price hike is unlikely.
Since SKY have cut back on the retention sweetners (although i've not checked it out recently), you would only have to give 30 days notice, therefore no point in jumping the gun and committing yourself for any period, simply let it run from month to month and play it by ear.
Oh, and this is hardly a grabbit quick post, so I expect this will be relocated by a mod to the relevant forum.

I phoned up Sky last week and said I wanted to cancel as they were putting their prices up. I said I really just wanted the sport , so I was going to try Setanta. The woman I spoke to from SKY said the Setanta was a great deal and she subscribes herself! (Well she was Scottish and Setanta have all the SPL matches). Anyway she said I would finish in a months time and good bye!! It was a good job I really wanted rid of the SKY! Still if you do get caught out they will always have you back!0

I phoned Sky last week to add sky sports to my basic 2 mixes. I asked if they were doing any special offers and the i was told to hold the line while they queried that. They confirmed that they were doing an offer for Sky Sports at half price for 3 months. Decent offer as the footy has just kicked off. Hope this helps.

A cheap simple way of gaining 'multi room' is to buy a videosender, cost under £30 and do the biz. This will allow you to control the sky box from your desired location. Limitation is that if you switch channels in the bedroom then it also changes channel from the main box location.
Simple, cheap and cheerful tho, and no multi room charge.0 -

I just phoned Sky to cancel movies that I had on offer at the £1 a month for three months.
I was transfered though to a really nice lady and was offered a re-duction of £12 a month to keep the same package that I currently have for three months, taking me up to December.
I did not even have to ask for it, the lady said they had a loyalilty offer at the moment.

We cancelled sky in favor of virgin media (we already had phone and bb via ntl). If you really want rid of sky tell them you're moving house, we did, then decided to stay.
At the moment though i'm tempted to return to Sky the problems Virgins been giving us and thats just getting the code to work on the box to access on demand shows etc.
I've given myself about a 3 week break before doing the telephone marathon again, took 4 calls on my day off last time to get the message through it wasn't working, and then they were going to get an engineer to phone me back, that was ages ago and apart from the 7 minute wait to get the situation sorted out by an adviser you have problems understanding them, I'm sure they are all in India, sometimes i'm lucky and get a nice welsh person on who seem to understand me more.
I've the address to write and complain via an email, but i've been on hols and can't be arsed with it until I'm in the right frame of mind again aka hormonal
