How much do you spend on food?

I agree with you.
That's why I'm interested in what veggie style would spend £10 a day on.
If it's something like you mention above, no big deal (as long as you can afford to buy lamb chops or steak or shellfish occasionally).
If it is Starbucks coffee, Pret-a-Manger sandwiches and King prawn kung po with rice, noodles and a side order of mushrooms and crispy seaweed, that's also no big deal (as long as he can afford it).
I was just interested to know more than the basic:
so I asked what he ate.
That makes sense, I just misread it.:)0 -

If i'm getting white fish, i get frozen mostly from Heron, sometimes with breadcrumbs but prefer it without. Then from the green box in Tesco while it's reduced i'll stock up on Herring. Mackeral and Kippers.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Pulses - red kidney, baked, borlotti, haricot beans are great in sausage casserole.
As you say, you can make a few really good quality sausages stretch a long way.
I haven't got as many pulses as i did have. Morrisons use to have about 10/12 different ones and i just use to get one of each, but they hardly do anything now. The other supermarkets are the same. I thought i must go into Liverpool one day and checkout China Town.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Probably worth checking out Holland and Barrett or other healthfood stores or, if you want to stock up online, these are both very good.

I could easily spend £10 in a day.
Haha well I'm pretty boring when ti comes to food for myself as usually I'm just cooking for myself and occasionally my partner when she's round which is when I do something a bit more extic. So breakfast is cereal, lunch is a couple of sandwiches, some fruit and crisps and dinner is usually a portion of a batch of food I've cooked. I do buy big bags of crisps, chocolate and other crap during the week so it balances itself out I guess!0 -
Surely a question about food shopping belongs on the Food Shopping and Groceries board, where it was actually posted.
The grocery challenge sticky at the top of the board is a brilliant tool to support cost containment within budget.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Wholeheartedly agree on this one, and if that is what the OP is looking for (reasonable guess, but not clear from the post) then posting a link to that thread in response would be very useful. Just moving the post to the OS board wouldn't necessarily draw attention to that or any other thread over there.0 -
We budget £50 per week for 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs (dogs on special diet too = expensive food!) inc food, cleaning, toiletries, loo rolls and alcohol if wanted.
Currently shopping fortnightly (£100)
Usually at end of fortnight we are under budget and get a takeaway treat too!
We have great food, great quality we just waste very little. We meal plan and freeze or use up whAt we don't. We bulk buy bargains that we will use0 -
I just don't and can't understand how some of your spends are so low. 2 adults and 2 toddlers here, one in nappies. (A cat, two hamsters and a budgie too!). We spend on average £150-£200 a week for everything except personal toiletries.
I set myself a budget this week for spending £100 when we did our main grocery shopping yesterday, still went over by about £20. Thing is that's a top up shop. We have our main shop coming up not next Monday, the Monday after and that will be around £300 but some of the stuff will last a couple of months. (It's a bulk buy wholesaler day).
Yesterday I didn't buy nappies as these were stocked up, and our shop was mainly from Lidl and Morrisons with a few things from Tesco, Aldi and Sainsburys.
