Myself and my other half try to stick to £30-40 a week, including cleaning products, loo roll, cat food etc.

I spend between £90 and £100 a week for myself and hubby. That does include everything though, cleaning materials, loo roll etc etc

    What do you eat?

I could easily spend £10 in a day.
    That's a whopping £300 + per month!

Maybe we should ask what you eat. :)

If you're buying sandwiches & coffees from cafes and ready meals & take-aways maybe you should be thinking of alternatives (unless you're happy spending that much).

We spend less than £200 per month (2 adults, no kids, no pets) and that includes all cleaning products and wine.

But I do menu plan and cook in bulk.
    We eat very well.

I eat lots of fish, i'd say at least 3 times a week. For lunch most days i'll do a cheese butty with some salad. I make soup in the slowcooker and most days have some at lunch then again at teatime. Just as an example i did a sausage curry overnight in the SC, lots of veges & lentils. I haven't added it up doubt it cost £3, and that's probably about 10 portions only need to add the rice. Similar thing when i make casserole in the SC. Most days breakfast is cereal, big bowl Weetabix; Bran Flakes; Wheat Bran & Dried Berries

I eat quite a lot of fish but never find it particularly cheap - there always seems to me to be much cheaper choices when buying meat (like offal) than there does when buying fish..

We try and stick to £40-50 a fortnight. This includes food (and beer!!) and general household goods. It doesnt include my indulgence of 2 cans of 25p energy drink for at work though ;)

I work in a supermarket too so get a staff discount which also helps keep the costs down.

I think it's quite easy to spend £10 a day on food but that doesn't mean that do so all the time.

I probably spend between £25/30 per week on food but I do mean food - I wouldn't include cleaning stuff/animal food/toiletries/alcohol in the same category - neither would I include food and drink when out - that comes under entertainment.

Pulses - red kidney, baked, borlotti, haricot beans are great in sausage casserole.
As you say, you can make a few really good quality sausages stretch a long way.

This is a thread for the OS board.
Surely a question about food shopping belongs on the Food Shopping and Groceries board, where it was actually posted.

I think we all could spend this and more, but we don't in the interest of economy.

With a reasonably stocked food store, £10-£15 pw for one persons is reasonable.

So how much do you spend on replenishing the food store and why not calculate that in your food spend?

Overall we do average £18 per person/week, but a lot of that is bulk shopping and stocking freezer/food store. Many weeks the food shopping for both of us will be under £10; milk, salad, fruit

We spend approximately £20 per person, well thats our average divided by four, obviously my wife and I consume more than our two children.
