Royal Mail (UK) Expert Needed

agrinnall, Don't need 3 months of enabled forwarding if this is what you are referring to. Just one letter. Additional problem is that I am pretty much sure letter would be delivered to my home address in UK in less than 5 days. Having said that, it is required to enable forwarding BEFORE i even request the shipping of package? God knows what the price would be if any.
Probably contacting Royal Mail is required to see which courier in particular foreign country would get the package. I cannot just guess something, e.g. in particular moment RM would give the letter to DHL or whoever. Wondering if is possible to go with forwarding request so far that courier in foreign country could be chosen on my own... I don't think so.
You are trying to do something that wont work.
The redirect you see if for 3 months - its not guaranteed.
They don't give it to a courier they give it to the postal service.
You cannot choose who that is by using the royal mail.
If your letter is due to be delivered within the next 5 days as an absolute minimum then you need to find another solution.0 -
Right. this is being made over complicated.
assuming you have proof of address and can do the redirection online.
Set it up and speak to RM customer services.
Request all mail for you is held pending redirection. I would recommend calling the local delivery office after this as customer requests can take up to 72 hours to get through to DOs via the CRT system.
However a redirection doesnt cover international forwarding of packages.
So is it a package or letter? You use both terms.
The cost is the cost. given you have left it so late. There are few other options (unless you have someone at the UK address, which i doubt)0 -
You can't arrange for only one letter to be redirected, the minimum redirection is the 3 month service.
Again, even if you do this, it's sent via the normal postal service in the country it is sent to, not via a courier.
You're going to need to make alternative arrangements, the redirection service won't do what you are requiring.0 -
In the circumstances you describe, Royal Mail's redirection service is of no use to you. I suggested an alternative way of getting the letter which would be fairly straightforward and quick.
How can I answer neither of your five questions?0 -
Phew, just reading this thread is hard work!0

This whole subject is baffling, too much for me to digest on a Sunday afternoon!
And why is it posted in the House Buying, Renting & Selling section?!!!!"The truth is of course is that there is no journey.
We are arriving and departing all at the same time."0 -
melstar11 the UK sender can only send with Royal Mail and only within UK. Even further - only to home address :-(
custardy: If it was so easy to call Royal Mail, I would do it already. They only have UK country code phone number for calling their support. It is a letter and its no problem setting up redirection first BEFORE actually requesting the shipping to my UK home address (unwanted address).
visidigi: how do you know they give it to postal service? Which postal service? You mean the post offices? I haven't said to which country forwarding would be needed.
frugalsmurf: i can wait up to 5 days, thats fine. No idea what do you count as ''standard letter'' but I haven't requested the shipping yet, nor forwarding.
Anyway, I messaged via email but no reply from their support. So I guess I will just try my luck and do what agrinnall suggested. Will simply set up forwarding. After that will wait 3 days (he hasn't suggested that - just my opinion) and then i will request the shipping which can be done only to UK home address. Since forwarding will be already enabled, it should work. However the bad thing is the price - there is no way for me to pay that massive cost of forwarding. Just for one letter, maybe two, shouldn't be so expensive. If it was, I would rather use this:
bongous.com
use their provided (unique for each member) UK physical address. Then hoping that price is much much much cheaper, if not even free of charge, if forwarding to different UK address instead of foreign country address. However even this would be too expensive as bongous charges too much to send from their UK address to foreign country.0 -

So you want a solution without contacting RM? Good luck with that.....If you can't find the answers you need, please call us on 03457 777 888, if you're outside the UK call +44 1782 668 007.

The redirection can be organised wholly online as long as you meet the ID criteria.
If you wish control in the receiving country. I suggest you use a mailing service in that country that provides an address and bespoke forwarding service.
As for Bongous. Why not check the price now?

If that country has a postal service, then thats the one. No need to know the country0 -
Royal Mail will pass the letter on to whoever the equivalent of Royal Mail is in the country you are in. Letters are forwarded via the local postal service, not a courier.
I assume not, but do any family members/friends have a key for your house in the UK?0 -

It may not be one letter - the service will re-direct all your mail for three months to that one foreign address.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
