Royal Mail (UK) Expert Needed

Guys,
HELLO :T
This post might not be in correct section of forum but moderator shall feel free to move it to correct one.
I, as a receiver, have a letter in logistic process, sent but not yet delivered, via Royal Mail and I am trying to forward this letter to different European country, outside of UK. Would have 5 questions.
On website for royal mail i found info forwarding costs 31.99 gbp for different last name. However I would like to forward to MYSELF but I travel in foreign country. Therefore last name, my own one, would be the same. What is the price, IF any, in that situation (first question)? Forwarding to different country.
Can I do entire forward procedure request on the website or is there anything else still needed, e.g. doing a call to Royal Mail support (second question)? I have webpage opened but your forum doesn't allow me to paste links. Would appreciate if you could please provide one but for me more important is the info if everything can be done directly on webpage (which one).
If you could be so kind to verify if my understanding of the following quoted text is correct:
"We need at least 5 working days notice to arrange your Redirection"
Does that mean I have to request forwarding at least 5 working days BEFORE the actual forwarding would happen (third question)? If yes, what happens if letter is supposed to be received in shorter time period? E.g. sender sends today and in two days (without forwarding being requested), the mail would arrive to the ''normal'' (not changed one) address. I think the best idea for such case is simply request forwarding (redirecting) and then like 3 or 4 days later, request the shipping of actual letter to ''unwanted'' address.
Is there any possibility to check for particular country which courier is responsible to deliver the package within the foreign country (fourth question)? E.g. if sending to X foreign country, Royal Mail cannot control the letter anymore since its not UK. So in particular moment, the courier located in X foreign country takes this letter. How can I know which courier takes it so delivery can be arranged with particular courier? Does Royal Mail tracking include such info? I doubt so.
The following is going to depend pretty much on what would be the answer on first question but anyway: On royal mail forwarding webpage i found ''How much does it cost'' and those prices are huuuuuuggggeeee. Monster prices. Any way to bypass this (fifth question)? Might not be free of charge but those prices are tens of times if not even hundreds of times too expensive. I would expect the letter to be delivered within max few days ( ! ) to foreign country. If I am expecting too much, please let me know what is expected delivery time.
Thanks in advance my dear friends

So in short, your whole question is just about trying to intercept one item which is already in the postal system on its way to you, and you think it might arrive in two days' time? I would say it's too late for you to instruct the Royal Mail to do anything special with that item before they (attempt to) deliver it at the original address.0 -
Can you ask the sender of the letter to re-send via a courier service (UPS, FedEx, TNT, etc) and you reimburse the cost? Get someone to collect your mail and forward by courier? They offer a next day service, certainly to most Euorpean addresses.0
-
If it's been sent by any of the tracked/signed for services, Royal Mail won't redirect it to outside the UK and it'll be returned to the sender.0

melstar11 to which out of 5 questions are you referring to? I cannot find a match in your reply comparing to my questions - neither of them. But to answer your question: the sender can send only via royal mail but i saw on their website international forwarding, outside of uk, is possible.
lunchbox: thank you for reply but your comment doesn't match with my questions.0 -
https://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/redirection
I think you may have misunderstood the mail redirection process, you seem to think you are paying per item, but the redirection is for a set period (£31.99 for 3 months) and all eligible mail sent to you at the specified address during that period will be redirected to your new address.
It does take around 5 days for the redirection to become active, and mail arriving before it is in effect will be delivered as normal.
Yes, you can do the set up online.
I'm not sure that it will be possible to check with Royal Mail exactly who will deliver in which country or how long it will take. I think you would need to contact the postal authorities in the relevant country to get that information.
Lunchbox's reply was to advise you that there are certain items that will not be redirected to an address outside the UK but will be returned to the sender if possible.0 -
I think you need to speak to someone at Royal Mail for this.
afaik, you cannot change the delivery address once the item is in transit, but I could be wrong.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

You asked; "How can I know which courier takes it so delivery can be arranged with particular courier? Does Royal Mail tracking include such info? I doubt so."
I was answering this because it seems to suggest it's being sent via a tracked RM service, in which case it won't be redirected.
If it isn't sent by a tracked RM service, it will be sent via standard postal service in the country it is being sent to, not a courier. There is no way of tracking it.0 -
You have quoted a price of £31.99 but that is for redirection to another UK address. The price for redirection to a foreign address is £125.99 for three months. This will redirect all of your mail to the new foreign address for that time. The prices are for each surname (this is where the "different name" part comes in - so for example if you are married and both have the same surname you will pay one fee, but if you have different surnames you will pay two fees).
It takes at least five working days and possibly longer. No they will not be able to redirect something that has already been posted.
You might be able to do it wholly online but depending on your answers to the questions they may wish to check ID in person in a post office.0 -
agrinnall, Don't need 3 months of enabled forwarding if this is what you are referring to. Just one letter. Additional problem is that I am pretty much sure letter would be delivered to my home address in UK in less than 5 days. Having said that, it is required to enable forwarding BEFORE i even request the shipping of package? God knows what the price would be if any.
Probably contacting Royal Mail is required to see which courier in particular foreign country would get the package. I cannot just guess something, e.g. in particular moment RM would give the letter to DHL or whoever. Wondering if is possible to go with forwarding request so far that courier in foreign country could be chosen on my own... I don't think so.0 -
I'm not sure i fully understand.
But ..you have a letter on the way to you?
You want it redirecting?
If yes....no it can't be done. You can put a redirection on your address for all of your mail but it takes 5 days. So that's no good to you.
Your letter will be returned to the sender or delivered to the old address if it's a standard letter.0
