Just tried to complete the setup process, entered my mobile number, got the activation code, entered that, then got the same message as last time 'Unfortunately we cannot register you for M&S Balance at this point. Please call us on 0345 900 0900 to discuss your options'

That's not my idea of 'New Fashioned Banking' so I think I'll give up now.:(

I think it's cause if you have the HSBC app or FD app on the phone the M&S app won't work. I think that's something I've read here.

Most probable, the computer sees possible fraud, not 'oh your a dual/triple group customer'.

Ah - two different M&S apps! I am talking about the shop one, whilst you are talking about the M&S bank app? Even if you got the latter to work, it wouldn't show you the balance of a gift card.

I have all 3 banking apps working fine, btw - HSBC, M&S Bank, and FD, on an iphone.

LOL of course I was talking about the M&S bank app! This is the Budgeting & Bank Accounts board after all:p, besides which the shopping app might be too tempting:o

I'm not interested in the gift card balance - I know mine is 0. I was trying to avoid having to use the wretched Belt & Braces thingy just to check there's no unexpected activity.

I'm also on iPhone, but still using a 4s and can't get the M&S banking app to work. I might upgrade to the new SE, then I can also use Apple Pay:)

I had responded to the question "is there any way to check your gift card balance without going to the till in store?". As the M&S banking app is so carp, I barely use it and I had momentarily forgotten about it.
