O/S Daily Friday 1st April 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Good morning everyone

I've been awake for a good couple of hours so I thought I would start us all off. Hope that is ok.

Thoughts are with Gers, Judi and Candlelight this morning. Sending you all warm wishes and hugs xxx

I have been awake for ages because my brain has started 'fizzing' again. It's not necessarily a bad thing but it stops me from sleeping. My thoughts were all jumbled up about my lifestyle, money, weight, relationships etc etc. I rang my mum yesterday because of Judi's situation. I love my mum but we are not very close and I needed to hear her voice to make sure she was ok. She is getting on a bit now and was full of aches and pains. I'm sure she worries about me too.

We are having the grandchildren to stay today, they will be sleeping here as well because my eldest has a funeral to go to with her partner. It's likely to get messy with a lot of feelings running high mixed with alcohol so I said we would have the kids so that she can support her partner and his brother.

In other news, my oven has given up the ghost. An engineer has looked at it and ordered the part it needs but doesn't know when it will be here so luckily I still have a working hob and grill so I can manage. I will miss my roast dinner though on Sunday :(.

Hoping that the weather is going to be as nice as yesterday I am planning to send the girls and grandchildren to the beach armed with buckets and spades and money for the arcades and ice creams. The girls have hardly left the house this holiday so I am kicking them out for their own good. I must check the tide times too before they leave.

Well, that's all from me for now. take care everyone xxx

    Morning All

It's still dark outside! Dry for now but forecast rain after yesterday's glorious sunshine. Sadly the washing didn't finish before I went to work so it's on the airers.

So glad I woke up before the alarm this morning, I thought I had switched it off when I got up but I had actually switched it on! Last day of the term today, so looking forward to the holidays.

Gers - Such a long sad journey for you, take care. I can watch your plane leave from my office window.
Judi & Candlelight - Thinking of you.
RR - How is Evie getting on?

    Enjoy Friday. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, cold and frosty but set to be a decent day. Load ready to go out on the line.

Dinner last night chicken, bacon and mushrooms in white wine sauce, mash, carrots, brocolli and peas. Not sure about dinner tonight, will organise whilst shopping this morning.

Car is going to garage this morning for MOT and service, I have a few jobs to do today as wasn't overly productive yesterday. Will just potter along today. Did get the ironing done of all washing that was dry enough, there will be more later. Will try to run the hoover over and menfolk all grumbling that they want some treats for the tins, so may occupy a while this afternoon doing some baking/cooking.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all, I am pottering about. I must go to my office's 'sister office' to pick up a phone this morning. Don't want to leave that until next week as have some phone work to do and claiming the cost back is an arcane process, probably deliberate, as since that process came in, I have not bothered climing expenses, which are not massive mostly.

My version of a week off seems to be dominated by catching up with jobs, oddly.

Last night's dinner was chicken with lemon, garlic and parsley, not a clue what to do tonight, might let DH do it, or perhaps I will suddenly become inspired. I like cooking but deciding what to make can be a pest.

Just remembered that the ironing pile requires my attention, it can require all it likes.

    Need more tea.

Hope everyone is well, thoughts with judi, candlelight and Gers xx

    Morning all,

Cold and frosty here this morning which we were not expecting, off to work for me but my weekend off and I am really looking forward to it, its reptile day today lots of snakes and spiders

Takeaway tonight not sure what yet but will see what we fancy later. DD has a driving lesson today and will then be doing more homework.

The lady who started the fire has been charged with arson and putting lives in danger, apparently the ceiling was seconds away from going up, the firemen told the lady below that she saved the other lady's life, I really hope she gets the help she need now, Furry glad you managed to get some support too that must have been a very hard time in your life xx

Camelot Evie is doing so well, she is such a little love I have taught her to ring a bell when she needs to go in the garden :T she is so well mannered and loves her walks, the longer the better for her, we go for really long ones at the weekend and she has about an hour on weekdays, it really is a delight having a dog again.

Right better get on have good days all xx

Candlelight hugs to you and OH xx

    Gers safe trip xx

Judi hope all is well xx

    Morning.

Woke in the middle if the night with thoughts and worries all swirling away in my head. Had a wee and a glass of water and managed to get off again.

There's not much I can do this morning as everything is ready. I'll be collected and dropped at airport.

Camelot - my plane leaves at 2.15 Emirates so I'll wave.

Hugs to candlelight and Judi just now.

Happy Friday everyone. Another new month.
  • Morning all. My thoughts are with GERS, JUDI and CANDLELIGHT. xxx Safe journey GERS. Such a long way to go for such a sad occasion.

We are not set for a repeat of yesterday's glorious weather sadly, but at least no rain forecast! It was lovely to get all the towels hung outside.

We have the 3 DGD's all day today, Will see what they want to do when DD drops them off. It's DD's birthday Monday and she seems to being having three celebration days! BF has treat her to a morning at a beauty parlour today, then this afternoon they are going to Leeds (by train) and he has booked a meal tonight at a highly reviewed French restaurant. Then overnight at a hotel. Tomorrow night she is having a night out with girlfriends. Then Monday, her actual birthday, she is having a shopping day in Leeds with eldest DGD, a friend and her DD. So guess who is looking after the two youngest DGDs!!

We have the girls today till about 6.00 when their dad or gf pick them up, as it's his w/e for having them. Lunch (unless we go out) will be pizza and chips and tea Spag Bol. I, of course, will be doing my utmost to stick to the BSD!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to all who want/need them and take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Cold, frosty and bright here, hopefully we are set for another nice day.

Glad had booked yesterday afternoon off as had headache that wouldn't budge, am trying to drink loads of water but wonder if something to do with the BSD, did anyone else get bad heads at the beginning? Made a veg chilli last night with kidney beans, toms and loads of veg. Followed it up with blueberries and yoghurt, very tasty and only 400 calories for the lot :) we have fish tonight and will make some cauliflower rice to go with.

Must start my spring clean so will make a list and do it bit by bit. Will pop over and see Billy this afternoon, am hoping his new supplement turns up today, at £48 it's expensive but a number of people swear by it so fingers crossed it makes my boy more comfortable.
RR love, love the idea of little Evie ringing a bell when she wants to go out, what a clever little girl :)

    Photogenic Debt-free and Proud!
Good morning all and happy April!!!

Thoughts are with Candlelight, Gers and Judi. Times like these make you appreciate what you have.

Today I leave for Liverpool until Sunday with work. Will be trying my upmost to spend as little as possible given its the start of a new month and I feel more determined than ever in my life to clear my debt.

The reason for the trip is to go on Europes longest and fastest zip line, which is actually in Wales but too long a journey for us in Glasgow. All in the name of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Should be a fun weekend.

Not sure if I'll be able to check in the net few days, so if not, please all take care, have a wonderful couple of days and make April as good a month as you can.

  • Morning all,

Judi thinking of you and what you are having to cope with sending hugs.

Gers a safe journey for you albeit a long journey.

Thank you for all your thoughts and good wishes. Well the good news is that his kidneys are now fine, but his heart is failing. His abdomen is now so swollen with fluid he looks pregnant, he can take about 5 steps and is fighting for breath. Anyway we are awaiting appointments for lots of tests he has to undergo, next week he will have to give lots more blood, and once they have the results of all of these they will be able to see a clearer picture.

He is a very frightened man, and I don't blame him, but when he is a bit stronger he has to decide whether he is going to be an invalid or whether he is going to get on with his life. I hope it is the latter, because I am not giving up on him and I definitely don't want him to.

Dumpling my oven is near to giving up the ghost. I would like it to just last a bit longer until Himself is feeling a little better and can cope. We are gas so have to have a gas fitter to connect and disconnect .

Have a good weekend all, and once again thank you it means such a lot to me to be able to talk to friends

    Much love
