:) Friday 1st April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money: :)

    Morning Lego mum

Make sure you ring the dentist as soon as they open and get an emergency appointment, there's nothing worse than toothache. Hope you manage to get it sorted and some more sleep.

    Plans for today

Check usual fpl, lucky phone, etc
Do swagbucks - I should have enough for a £5 gift voucher today.
    Dry washing on the line
    Mum and dad's for tea
Continue to use up bits of toiletries which my DD has just left before starting new ones.
Check bank for interest and then move money around.
Do at least 7000 steps to get my Bounts points - I managed 14000 yesterday so got double points.

    Have a good day all

And well done on your annual spends being lower that's good going..as to the food thing I heard a saying the other day 'progress is better than perfection' you sound very careful to me I always admire how organised you seem so don't worry too much on that front.

Legomum - owww. Toothache is that horrible pain that goes right through your head, agree with Bob, get on the phone asap :) I hope it eases and well done on making good use of your time in the night. Rest up now!

    Todays hit list:
    • Just registered, and have some free tomato seeds on their way - http://www.heinzgrowyourown.co.uk
    • [STRIKE]Have a friend coming over mid morning. This ensures that even though I have taken a cuppa back to bed at the moment, I will have done the housework by about 1030! Socialising over a cuppa at home, not going out :)[/STRIKE] Not coming, drama at home. Housework on hold too!!
    • Inspired by Juliejim/Lego and mention of Bounts over last few days on here, will download the app. Am trying to up my steps so might as well get that side benefit/inspiration! Thanks for the referral code :)
    • Linked to that, make sure I get my steps in. I went as far as packing a gym bag for my trip to work yesterday, but then worked through lunch. Not a good first day back! Er, still at home in PJs, must get up and out!
    • Washing washed overnight for cheap cycle. is on line now, hoping the wind will dry it (no sun!)
    • Confirm budgets for April and May (its a complicated few months for us) set targets for the NST challenge and update my diary.
    • Phone meeting with big boss. Had optionof popping in to see him or discussing by phone. Opted for the latter - no need for smart clothes, beautifying, petrol etc. Didnt even get dressed and it went just fine!
    • Budget sorting out includes processing and filing my recent financial-related paperwork that has accumulated as I have tried to tackle 'grown up stuff'.
    • Speak to people linked to the updating of my will - guardians, executors etc.
    • Do a few annoying and weary jobs for the charity I support - mainly letters and logistics. I'll feel much better when off my to-do list, accumulating far too much guilt at the mo! :j Yay! These are done. Oh, all but one, I just remembered!
    • Use up bits from fridge for dinner :) Am a bit sick of chilli but rescued just enough to go on top of a baked spud, er or scoop of mash...
    • Make up and freeze mashed potato portions. Was gifted a carrier bag full of potatoes yesterday, but they are turning. Its one of DD's favourite comfort foods so always great to have extra portions in the freezer.
    • Wash hair:)
    • Make docs appt
    • Annoying jobs for April: Mobile & Broadband contracts, Urgh. Don't know where to start with that!
    Have a good day all!!

    Morning all :hello:
Thanks again for all the lovely birthday wishes. I've had a bit of a restless night as dh is on a bit of a downer again and have woken up with a stinking headache. Woe betide anyone who tries to pull an April Fool gag on me when I'm feeling like this.
Thanks for the start legomum - don't leave your tooth. That's the kind of pain that won't just sort itself out.
Ally, if you're reading, I hope you're feeling better today.
LaE - my brain still refuses to make a decision, but once painkillers have kicked in I'll get on thinking about it. :)
    So, today's plans:
    check banking and PAD
 get April budget updated now all dd's have gone
 ring the gym and see if they have spaces for gymnastics this morning for the kids
    relax
 meal planning for the month ahead
 pop to butchers for some meat
    crochet
 ring Sky for a bit of a haggle.
    minimal housework
 try and find some way of cheering up dh before he goes to work.
Have a good day everyone

Well I have just reported into the Roadkill Rebels thread and my total for the year to date is £12.11 considering I won't see that much interest on the £1000 I've had sat in my ISA for the last year I think that's a pretty 'big' small thing.

    Good morning all :)

LegoMum - sorry to hear about the toothache :( hope you managed to get an emergency appointment.

As for today I've got 6 hours overtime that'll now be going into May's wage.
Picking up OH from airport today after a week away dealing with her clients.
Won't be a NSD - will probably get her a bunch of flowers for picking her up as she has been really sad as DD has cried every time she's wanted to speak to her on the phone :(
Will look at last months grocery spend and setup a budget that we will HAVE to stick to this month.
    Forecast for overpayments in April
I'm off to do the gumtree listings I said I'd do the past 2 days now, someone give me a kick!

Have a good day all, nearly the weekend.

    Morning ALl!

Lego Mum, hope you tooth gets better. Best ring the dentist for a check up - you don't want it to turn into something worse!

I am at the inlaws this weekend. I agreed to help them decorate the room upstairs we use to sleep in - so that's my main job today. Hate painting! :(

    My other checklist:

    - Go into town and clear my PO credit card! :D
    - pick up some paint we ordered from B&Q
    - Pay off another £400 to the natwest card online
    - figure out how to cancel my historic scotland membership!

    Have a good one, Peeps!
