Hi
Am looking for a new washing machine. Need about 7-8kg capacity. Budget is about £450/500. I am hoping to get one with decent daily wash cycle lasting around an hour or so rather than long cotton programmes
Aound any recommendations ? I know about cheap beko machine exist and advise of buying two cheap ones instead of one. I prefer to get good quality machine that will last longer thank beko and so would appreciate some pointers....

Try the John Lewis specials.

John Lewis will price match bricks and mortar stores.
Some of them have up to 5 year guarantees at no extra cost and some cashback too. http://www.johnlewis.com/siemens-wm14q478gb-freestanding-washing-machine-8kg-load-a-energy-rating-1400rpm-spin-white/p1987342
This is the cheapest Miele and although it says 2 year guarantee, they last for years. http://www.johnlewis.com/miele-wda101-washing-machine-7kg-load-a-energy-rating-1400rpm-spin-white/p2105111#tabinfo-spcl-offr
I bought a new Miele recently to replace our ancient machine. We bought it at John Lewis but it came from Miele direct, who installed it despite me not having paid for that.0 -
Miele here also. I have them in about ten rental flats, with no problems so far.0

Miele have always had a very good reputation, but are pricey. I've got a Bosch Exxcel which has a 7Kg capacity, we've had it for ... thinking ... must be 8 or 9 years at least, maybe longer, in all that time the only thing that's gone wrong was the motor brushes needed replacing a couple of weeks ago. And that's with using it at least 4 or 5 times a week.0

Miele without a doubt. You wont regret it.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Just got a Grundig dryer in the sales - interesting to see how it works out.
Samsung washer at the minute - looking good and has a 1:03 cycle that sorts all school uniform and a not quite 3 hour one for Dealing Absolutely with cottons.
Had we had a bit more money & nerve simultaneously, I liked the look of the Bosch & wanted an 8kg Miele but couldn't sort one in the timeframe. Thing is, our machines get used *daily*. School kit & work kit & so forth, so with 4 loads a week I'd expect even a Beko inexpensive to last 2 years...0 -
I've been using Indicit washer for that few years with no problems. Sure only paid less than £300 from AO.com and its got 9kg was load.0

Bought our first Miela just after our daughter was born, they guarantee spares availability for 20 years after they stop production of a model. After 23 years during which we had the engineer out once, the programmer went TU, parts were available but after 23 years I decided not to spend £350 getting it repaired but instead to buy a new Miele (for less than £500, but that was 8 years ago) - it will last the rest of our lives!
Spend the money on a Miele, you won't regret it.0 -
Right, I'm calling Spam on DarkMatter - sorry, BMWLover - what with this and his other thread over on the motoring board.0

Grundig is owned by Koc Holding (yes, really) and is simply a brand used exclusively to market them via Argos in the UK. Koc Holding is part of the Turkish Arcelik group that also owns Beko, You can see why they needed an alternative brand name to market in English language markets....
So what you've bought is probably a badged up Beko.
If you were expecting Grundig to be German designed and built then you're years too late-they went bankrupt in 2003.
Buying a machine for say £300 that only last 2 years is a real false economy. Over 10 years that would cost you £1500!No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I've had a Miele for about 13 years now. Used once a day and at weekends probably twice a day. Only had the engineer out twice, I think. Once to replace brushes and for something else that I can't remember.
Can't fault it.
Last time he came out was about 3 years ago and he plugged the machine into his laptop and told me I (well, the machine!) had done just over 10,000 wash hours in 10 years!0
