Selling House - ex partner won't / can't sign

Poor you. I think thats very bad that your solicitor didn't even tell you she was leaving the company, but for what its worth I think she sounded a bit cr*p anyway!
I'm no legal expert but I can't see how you could complete without having all the paperwork in order, after all when you sign you are relinquishing all rights/ responsiblities regarding the property. Keep your chin up, drive round to the exes, wave a bit more "goodwill" at him & hopefully he will sign. Look at it like this if he does thats the end of all your worries. Good Luck X0 -
SIGNED
I drove the 120 miles to ex's house after work last night - there was no answer at the door. So I got my book out and sat in the car for a total of 3.5 hours (going back to ring the doorbell every hour). One of his housemates was upstairs watching telly (I could see him through the window!) but wouldn't answer the door.
Then, just as I was about to cry, a car pulls up and drops off my ex! I was so surprised, I jumped out straight away, smiling and saying "hello, you!". Needless to say, he was surprised to see me - and I was pleasantly surprised to see that he'd been at work!!!
He said he still hadn't received anything in the post, and I said that's OK - I've got copies of the contract here. He took them and said that he would post them back - I said no, unfortunately we have to do it now.
Ex got very upset and almost threw a tantrum:
"I'm not signing it now! I've just got in from work, for God's sake - I'm exhausted!"
"I know, ex-Badger, but I've just done a day's work and then driven 3 hours to see you. You don't have a phone and I live in another country - when else will we be able to talk? I'm really sorry, but I'm exhausted too, and the poor buyer was supposed to move in yesterday."
He huffed and puffed, and wouldn't let me in the house, but angrily signed the papers and handed them back.
"It was nice to see you, ex Badger."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever" (storms back into house)
I was so shocked, I had to sit in the car for a bit longer and calm down before posting the papers through my Solicitor's door!
Very happy now - thank you so much for your support, I almost feel a bit silly now for getting so stressed about it!

I'm amazed he signed them, he's giving up all the money he is legally entitled to from the profit of the sale. I know its morally probably wrong, but legally he's missed out on alot of money.
Well done for sorting him out though, he sounds like a foolSave save save!!0 -
Just had a really funny development - I can't stop laughing!!!
Solicitors just called to say that, while I was so stressed about getting his signature, I forgot to sign it myself!!! I'll be on the 2 o'clock train back to England then...
