i dont have those spring loaded things on the amp and also i am having trouble telling which speaker is + and - as even on on the cable they look exactly the same0

and my speakers are 4 ohms
If the speaker terminals unscrew, there is normally a hole to poke the bare conductor though before tightening the terminal up
4 ohm speakers can only be connected to output A OR output B terminals on the RN500.0 -
The specs say..Screw terminals of loudspeakers
If both wires are the same colour there may be a slight ridge running down one of them.
It doesn't matter whether you connect that to red or black on the amp so long as you are consistent.
With 4 ohm speakers the amp will be unable to deliver enough current to produce maximum power output.0 -

hi
if amp is looking for 8 ohm ant it gets connected to 4 ohm the output transistors dont like it and thus amp cuts out or goes into meltdown
thats why i advised op to not go too loud on volume as they are not tec savvy0 -
thanks for all this but the main problem is that even having cut them they look exactly the same and no sign of red or blue just copper wire so dont know how to tell + and -0

A As above, if you connect 4 ohm speakers there is risk that if you try to turn the volume up too high you will blow the amp.
There is usually a white line or a slight raised ridge down one side of the wire.
It's doesn't really matter which way round they are connected as long as both left and right amps are connected the same way round ( in phase) .0 -
it says in the manual there is a way to set it for the 4 ohm so that shouldn't be too much of an issue
u just chose that option in the display but first i have to connect them! actually u choose that in the display then connect them, but not sure how to fix this + and - prob before i connect0 -

The amp states that one pair of 4 ohm speakers fine connected to either A or B outputs.0 -
i just read online that if u dont know which speaker is + and which is -. it wont harm the amp if u get it round the wrong way but u will be able to tell by the sound so u can then just switch them??0

yes, that's right......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
