If the delivery route fails, what about advertising on a local facebook site? Sure you'll find a couple of guys, or maybe a man and van type service who are willing to come carry it up for like £20 or something.0

Your local paper or newsagents window us worth checking people offering labouring work as well0 -
Some sofas unbolt and come apart. They would be a good choice as not as bulky.0

We got 2 three-seater settees a few years ago - the type with mechanical recliners on each end. Each of them actually came in 3 different boxes, and then they were bolted together in situ, which was fortunate as it turns out it would have been too big to get through the front door. You may find sofa's of that type are the same, so wouldn't be such an issue getting upstairs.0

Stairs are one thing - door frames are Very Difficult to negotiate with.
Me, I asked the local rugby club (they were at a local charity thing) & bam! Sofa shifted in minutes, donation to charity, everyone happy & with a good story...0 -

IKEA delivered to my 4th floor apartment. It was 'flat pack', but they were still large, chunky boxes and not all of them fit it the lift.
I had a huge argument with Bensons for Beds though when they insisted they would have to fold my new mattress to get it in to lift, despite their delivery info saying they would deliver to any floor. I point blank refused to let them, and they finally relented and took the stairs, with a stern warning that I'd have large compensation case on my hands if either of them hurt their backs doing it...0 -
We bought a large 3.5 seater from an independent manufacturer with retail space in their warehouse. They brought it in in two pieces and fitted it together in the room.

I'm a man and a van and stopped taking large bulky stuff upstairs ages ago, it's not worth the aggro. I have delivered a lot of Harveys suites of late and the backs just u clip of a whole load of them making it easier to get through doorways.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
