Sky Q - what will it give me (and cost)?

The monthly cost of the Silver Bundle from June will be £56 per month compared to, in my case, £54.75 for Sky HD Variety Pack plus Multiscreen. Installation provided you have Sports and Movies is £149. However, if you have 10 years of continuous subscriptions, Sky will discount the £149 by £99. Sky broadband subscribers can use a Sky Mesh that connects all the boxes in a way that I suspect is similar to SONOS speakers. For non Sky Broadband subscribers the connect is via the existing wifi. Having a dual band router helps as the 5GHz channel can be used.
The downside, as others have said, is the loss of Freesat connectivity unless Sky agrees to fit a hybrid LNB.
Not a great deal more per month then. Good to see Sky giving a discount to long term subscribers as well. First for them!0 -

I guess you could keep your old boxes just in case. ALthough I understand the new dish wont work on old boxes? So you'd have to get a new dish in this case?[/QUOTE]
Not a new dish, a different LNB which is the part of the dish where the cables are connected.
There is indeed talk of a "hybrid" LNB which will allow connection of both types of decoder.
Depends how much of a success Sky Q is, I suppose...0
