Tuesday 22 March - What small DFW things will you do today?

Afternoon all,
Busy morning, but have stopped for a cup of tea. It's one of my 2 strict calorie days of the week, so I am powering through my list to take my mind off the mini hot cross buns which are calling my name from the freezer. Today's frugal activity:
*Laundry done mostly on cheap tariff. Not very warm outside, but dry, so I've pegged it out to save on running the heated airer, which hasn't been on once yet this week.
*Found one bag in the freezer containing 2 chicken drumsticks & another containing 4, so have put them to marinate in mustard & honey & they will do a cheap tasty meal tonight.
*Made stock in the slow cooker overnight on tightwad tariff. Divvied it up & froze.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Entered a competition
*Did some surveys.
*Moved baby chillies, tomatoes & aubergines down to the greenhouse. Cold nights though, so covered with a big recycled muslin curtain from that well known Swedish purveyor of goods (rather than buy new garden fleece, as the sparrows robbed my last lot for nests).
*Moved seed potatoes into conservatory where the chits will get more light. I look on all these sort of jobs as maximising future food supplies.
*Cut a big twiggy pruning off our greengage tree to bring inside to use as my Easter tree. 'Tree' now decorated with painted eggs, chicks & ribbons & looking very spring-like in our front window. Free!
*Hoovered only the rooms which needed it.
*Check pantry for ingredients needed for my Easter baking....also decorations/ribbon. I am still working my way through a box of chicks bought from the 99p shop years ago, so it's unlikely I'll need to buy anything.
*Knit up some more of the order I said I'd do for a friend. I'm not getting on as quickly as I thought I would.
*Pack new toiletries away in my stash. I won a raffle prize last night. Nice box of smellies which turned out to contain 5 full size products & a shower scrunchie. Not bad for £1. I will also reuse the box.
*Wrap birthday present using recycled paper/ribbon from my stash & a home-made gift tag. Card also from stash.
*Update my blog.
*Hold my ground with cat. He is still refusing his current tins of meat. We won't buy them again, but we are hoping that he will deign to get through the remaining 4 of them. We have come to the conclusion that it is worth paying a little more for his preferred brand so that there is no waste. Lesson learned.
OK, that is pretty much my activity today......the money saving bits anyway.
Hope everyone managing a decent day.
Coo-er, Bob, that was a little bit of positive news about your business. Goodo!

Sorry I haven't been around for a bit. It's been a horrible time for me and my family. Things escalated again with my neighbours, this time the washing machine being too loud and the baby crying. She got abusive and went to hit me in front of my kids so I called the police. I have pretty much been petrified to go home on my own since. Seems no one is taking any of this seriously and I am too scared to be in my own home right now. I've contacted the council again but they don't seem bothered. I have now asked my mum to take me, OH and three kids in temporarily which would mean sharing one room between us. It's that bad. I haven't eaten for two days, I'm constantly shaking and terrified. Life is just really crap right now.DMP Started June 20160

Sorry to hear that MTC. Is it social housing? If so, surely the landlord is obliged to do something? All I can suggest is that you call the police every single time you feel threatened. ((Hugs))0

No I privately rent. My landlord said to contact the council, but as I say they are not interested. I just picked up my DD from school and was physically shaking on the way home in case I saw them but it seems we missed them on the school run. I am literally begging my mum to let us move in with her for a short time until we find somewhere else.DMP Started June 20160 -
Hope you are able to find somewhere else soon, and hopefully make a new start.0

MTC sorry to read this. I don't have any advice further that what's already been posted but wanted to send my virtual hugs from my family to yours. xxNew total: £24,006

I will do this.0 -
Evening all
MTC - sorry to hear that you're feeling so scared in your own home. I don't know if I might consider involving the police if I'd been physically threatened. Hope that you sort something out soon.

La E So pleased about your tenant situation. That must be a huge weight off.
LegoMum had to smile at the 4 times table chanting on route to school. These sorts of things are so familiar to me
hope your dramas have improved now.
Foxgloves Your easter tree sounds lovely. Mr F is lucky to have such a good home maker around. You sound like you do so many nice things around the place.
Ziggy thank you lovely. Hope easter break is going well.
Make the Change so sorry to hear about your situation. Have you asked to speak to the anti social behaviour team specifically?
Hello to the new posters too. Well done on your efforts!

The police said it will be passed onto the neighbourhood team but tbh it doesn't make daily life any better. If anything, I feel like the situation will worsen. I can't move within my own home without fretting about the noise, even when DS2 was in the bath, kicking his feet on the bottom I was starting to feel anxious and panicking about the noise and quickly got him out. Plus them and their little groups sit outside in the communal grounds making coming and going very intimidating. One of her friends walks past me and makes sly comments under her breath at me. I am so scared being on my own with the kids.

My bit of news yesterday was that my business made a small profit (after 3 years of not) last financial year. So I have to see the accountant to sign that off. Feels quite amazing really considering all that has happened.[/QUOTE]
