  • I've been avoiding Jet2 because rummours are that they are in a spot of financial trouble

i can assure those rumours are untrue, in fact they are expanding rapidly and are soon going to start flying to egypt

You said you're going to Amsterdam and Berlin. I'm not sure which way around you're doing things but if I understand correctly, why are you bothering coming back to Manchester from Amsterdam only to turn around and go to Berlin? I'd advise you check out KLM from Amsterdam to Berlin and back. You could also try www.transavia.com which is the lowcost airline of belonging to KLM/AirFrance.

I assume OP is going to from manchester to berlin then to amsterdam (or other way round) then back...
  • Well it wouldn't matter which of the 3 airports in Berlin you use. All have fairly good public transport links into the city. As a rule of thumb, you're more likely to be flying into Schoenefeld on a low cost flight; Tegel on a flag carrier and Tempelhof on a crop sprayer (or Brussels Airlines).

Jet2 aren't actually expanding to Egypt - they are just flogging holidays there. Their 'holiday shop' is selling flights on XL airlines. It'll be an XL plane with XL staff. It'd be like Jet2 selling a holiday to New York - Jet2 wouldn't actually fly you there.

Jet2 are ditching more routes than starting new ones. They started (or claimed to be starting) a whole selection of routes from Manchester. However most have now fallen by the wayside. Check out the promised Manchester to Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Toulouse, Venice, Warsaw.... How many are now for sale this winter?

Blackpool airport has had several routes ditched.

Jet2 BTW are freight carrier - they transport flowers & veg and the post for Royal Mail. Thats were they make their money. They're just c**p at transporting people.

If you need to know who flies where, check out the departures and arrivals online at the airport you want to get to. Find the airlines who go in/out of the airport and go to their website.

Low cost routes are changing all the time and most of the 'whoflyswhere' websites get out of date. If you want a low cost route finder, try also www.flightmapping.com or www.SkyScanner.net/WhoFlies

Thanks all, now SHS you are scaring me now about jet2, we've used em for years and booked next years Murcia flights already! We havent had our refund yet either and am not impressed at all with their customer service but you get what you pay for I guess. I want a refund for the outward cancelled man-Berlin flight then its cheaper to re book the whole lot with Easyjet from Liverpool. Then we will just have to lose the £60 for the return Jet2 flights from Amsterdam to Manchester as its cheaper that way.Found some customer relations guy at jet2's name on tinternet so have mailed him telling him he has won a costomer service award pmsl. bet he opens it but also bet he does nowt about it!
  • Someone will always fly to the popular airports in Spain, so even if J2 arent around then you'll get there with someone else. Hold out for your refund. Use the "Reclaim bank charges" method if you have to.

Dont want to frighten any one else but.... FlyGlobelspan are also pulling routes at the moment by closing down at Stansted as from 31st October.

Goes without saying - make sure you have *decent* travel insurance, which doesn't always mean the cheapest. Ensure you're covered for airlines going bust. Pay by Credit Card rather than Debit Card if your flights are over £100 (even if it costs you £extra in charges).

Have fun all - Most of the Summer 08 routes to the Costas and the likes are available now. slEasyJet and RyanScare always have sales on - but check the whole market..... a Ryanair sale is not always what it's cracked up to be - don't forget the baggage fees, check-in smile fee ;), life-jacket fee....

    Happy Holidays!

  • I too was due to fly to Berlin and am owed £350 by them. They will not speak to me - have just rung their Christchurch HQ and been berated for daring to ring customer services - apparently they do not actually speak to customers! Cannot get a date for a refund. They are in breach of EU regulations that give them 7 days for a full refund. I also understand that even though the cancellation is their fault (operational reasons) I will not get my card booking fee back. Is this legal?

BEWARE BEFORE YOU BOOK WITH THEM

Why do you say they wont refund card booking fee. In email is ...

As you have booked to travel between Manchester and Berlin on or after 29th October 2007, we will of course be offering you a full refund for your affected flights on or after the above date. This refund will be credited to the payment card used at the time of the original flight booking and will be processed as soon as possible.

anyway i still dont have my monies back, will ring my credit card company for advice as they own me £280
