You are correct re delivery, it's about 2.5 weeks from order date.

I'm a little disappointed on that side, but the deal is still worth the wait in my opinion as the delivery price is included in the total price that I was happy with, and still better than anything else about for that spec.

I think the 'truelife' is the same as the 'brightscreen'.

You can work out yourself whether the specs are better or not

1.86Ghz or 1.73GHz
2Gb RAM or 1Gb RAM
160Gb HD or 100Gb HD
15.4" Truelife or 15.4" brightscreen (same?)
Intel 950 or Intel 900 (not sure which is better, prob similar for what you need?)

So if your friend's laptop is ok, I guess this is better than ok?

i ordered the 6400 on 7 sept, due delivery date is on or before 20 sept

8 days after ordering and its still in pre-production? in other words they have't even started making it yet but expect to deliver it in the next 5 days. hmmm

anyone else ordered one of these? received it yet?

There are websites that sells Dell PCs and Laptops for less than Dell and with 3 years warranty. The machines are refurbished by Dell back to Dells "As-New" standards, but the 3 year warranty is added for extra reassurance. Dell charge over £100 for a 3 year warranty, but these websites chuck them in for free with their machines. This is where people in the know are buying their Laptops

Granted it's a 3 year warranty, but outside of that they are more expensive than I paid direct with Dell for the model I chose.

Mine is same as yours, I'm happy to wait as it's such a good spec for the price, but delivery is definately not their strong point. If the price was not as good I would have cancelled and gone elsewhere.

If anyone else can point me to a comparable spec for the same price I may still do - any takers ??

there are laptops on both those sites not as good as the one i've bought and more expensive

i'm beginning to wish i'd just bought one from pc world now, although spec wasn't as good and a bit more expensive, but at least i would have one

i have just been told that the delay is due to the processors being out of stock but apparently i should still be receiving the laptop in the next 4 or 5 days.

i will probably be cancelling and buying one from PC world instead now
