Thanks for the newsy post HJ...v glad you're getting back on track. Keep taking the meds when you need them, as you say. Glad school going OK. My DD had Physics today...Maths tomorrow..yours too?

Agree that NM sounds awesome. OH has spent time in Texas and Arizona, California too but not New Mexico. Sounds like something there for everyone.

Interesting about the anti-d's as Mr SA is adamant he wants to come off his as he thinks he doesn't need them anymore. Well done on braving the WW scales, you can now start moving forwards. Hope you feel better today.

  • Sorry to hear what you went through as a child :(. Much love.

Well done for facing the scales. I'm too frightened to come off my anti-d's. I feel they are only just keeping my anxiety at bay Xx

I got off my AD because it was making my heart race. I took myself off and did it slowly. I was off completely for over a year and cried the entire time. Finally got tired of crying and started taking a different AD that didn't cause me to endure side effects. I know I have to take them or I'll just be a blubbering mess.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • Hello everyone. After a long absence during which a lot has happened I have decided to come back but more low key as my previous posts were very lengthy! I also put too much pressure on myself to post regularly which stressed me out a bit so here goes for a new approach.

I've had a mixed few months but the trend is good and a lot has happened...... DS got married and it was a lovely occasion, my DD got her 9 GCSEs at really good grades, the pupils I teach did well enough for the head to be really pleased and I am increasing my hours to as close to full time as possible starting end of Sept as someone in my dept has left and I desperately need the money. My DS and his wife have also got their visas through and they emigrate to Australia in early Oct THIS YEAR so my 22 year old is leaving these shores for a new life.

It's all go here! Got mixed feelings about the emigration but they will do very well out there and it's best for them so I am 'smiling and waving'.

Just updated my sig with new figures as I've made a real push to overpay the car loan and it's gone down quite a bit.

I'm 50 in a few weeks time and this has made me think really hard about financial planning. So I have fixed my interest only mortgage for 10 years from 1 October 2016 and moved all my remaining debt in the sig below onto a new credit card at 0% for 36 months. Just got accepted today and will shave £50 off the car loan just by paying it off now and also not have to pay an ongoing 5% on it.

The mortgage causes me the most stress in life as I have so far not paid it down and I would not be able to afford a full repayment one. So I have looked at what everyone on the threads does and my goal is to make ops as often as possible and overpay by £150 from Nov 1. This will at least increase my equity and have a snowball effect and get me on the right track. Once I get the ball rolling then I will increase overpayments every time I get a pay rise and also when I get extra payments for exam marking. I am suffering for rash spending over the last decade since escaping the marriage but at least now I have stopped and have my budget under control. I guess I will have to stop beating myself up!

I've been keeping up with all your diaries as a secret lurker and will continue to do so!! Have a lovely Friday evening.

    Back to school next Monday!!!!

Lovely to see you back again, gosh so much has been happening. You seem to have a good plan and hopefully everything will be paid off soon and more money channeled to the mortgage OP.

  • Thanks Maddiemay, it's nice to be back. Love seeing the picture of your dog! Pirin the Yorkie will be two tomorrow so me and DD are using a birthday voucher to get him some free treats at pets at h**e. A lidl weekly shop and diesel will be the only expenses for the upcoming week as I need to keep a tight rein on finances.

The govt in their wisdom have shut down the child support agency and everything has to go through a new one now. So of course this means I won't get the next payment (although it will be backdated in Oct). So the hatches are being well and truly battened down here!!!
