When do you pay for your ebay purchases?

Just out of curiosity, when you buy something on eBay, when do you typically pay?

I don't sell much, but when I buy something, I typically pay straight away, or perhaps 8 hours later if I used as it ended when i was at work.

I thought this was the norm, but this appears not to be the case!

I pay when I next log in to my buying account, so usually within 24 hours.

If it's a buy it now item, I'll pay straight away when I buy it. If an auction, usually within 24 hours - I use automated sniping systems so won't necessarily be at the PC (or remember about it when I am!) when the auction finishes.

I pay straight away. I don't bid on things that aren't about to end as I like to know where I'm at with things and if I won it.

I pay immediately because it'd be so easy to "forget" - and then, if one should "forget" for, say, 1-2 days, there's a huge fear of embarrassment about it - which would make me want to not dare log on for fear of a communication from a disgruntled/confused seller.

So I buy immediately and I pay immediately. Then I know it's done.

With buy it now, which I prefer, I pay straight away. With auctions, I sometimes don't remember when they ended so I pay when I receive the email from eBay, which is usually the same day or the next morning if it ended in the evening.

I can't recall the last time I bought something via auction. Usually buy it now.

So I go on. Click buy it now and pay there and then.

Thanks for all the responses.

Looks like I have just been unlucky, with buyers taking a few days to pay.

The ONLY time I have not paid within 24 hours was when I was away on business for a few days, with no internet access, but I sent the seller a message asking was it Ok to pay after five days if I won the auction, and they were fine with it.

There used to be some Ebay stats, I can't remember exactly but along the lines of 90% pay in the first hour, 98% in 24 hours, 99% in 48 hours, the rest either don't pay or pay any time in 5 days.

Generally speaking the cumulative of a statistical figure/survey will be 100%. Sometimes it's a fraction above or below but that's usually due to rounding up decimals.

According to the ad, when cat owners were questioned, 8 out of 10 cats preferred Whiskas. I always surmised that that meant 2 out of ten cats did not, bringing a total of ten out of ten cats, or 100% of the sample. Any other variation makes the statistic invalid. For example if 8 out of 10 cats preferred Whiskas and 5 out of ten did not, that's 130%, so it would be utter nonsense. If it was 8 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas and 1 out of 10 did not, then there could be another group, perhaps a further one out of ten cat owners had a dead cat, this would be explainable but still give a total sample of 100%.

Cat owners were never, as far as I know, asked how long it takes for their cat to pay on Ebay. Again, generally speaking, cats never pay, no matter what they bid on.
