Ruth Davidson on FMQ
which sounds even later on in proceedings. We won't know that for a long time, surely?
I'm not so sure it will be a !ong time, maybe a year will be enough. Of perhaps more importance I think will be the extent to which new trade deals can then be started with other countries and the country's prosperity is seen in a broader context than the myopic EU.Union, not Disunion

Those who seem familiar with the inner workings of the EU seem to suggest that the usual modus operandi is one of 11th hour resolution to thorny issues.
We might not be able to make any real sense of what A50 means until the actual window closes.
If I were a Scottish independence voter, I would prefer to have the actual details over speculation. I followed the threads on the recent Scottish indyref, and too much felt up in the air to me. You'd hope for better second time around.
True. It is all a little vague though about when we are allowed to have a referendum. Why not 2019? Westminster elections in 2020, Scottish elections are in 2021. Feel a lot of this should've been done through the two governements talking to each other. Seems as if Ruth Davidson knew before Nicola Sturgeon.0 -

2020 after the Conservatives win again?0 -
Cue the howling at the moon for:
- an illegal referendum
- boycott's
- protest marches
- open rebellion
- self determination0 -
I think a sunset clause would be simpler, but don't know if that has to have a certain date, or can just say once negotiations are complete. Or maybe when it goes to parliament makes more sense?
I think NS did say something about it being in her specified timeframe, if possible, so I don't think it has to be seen really negatively but the government will have to be very careful with their language I think.
The problem with saying just that it should be after a certain date is any implication that the permission for a referendum is at the whim of the SNP after that time. It could be that the SNP may duck a referendum just after the completion of Brexit because it turns out to be popular, but feel free to have one next time England beat Scotland in a Rugby match, or some other flimsy excuse when they think they might win.
PS I don't mind loosing a few Rugby Matches for the sake of the UnionUnion, not Disunion

Watching FMQs and thought about how Nicola spoke; why use 10 words in an answer when 100 will do.

I feel it maybe should be down to the Scottish parliament when to hold a referendum. I think TM will just continue to be very vague, which really isn't good. Is 'now is not the time' going to be the new 'Brexit means Brexit'? No-one wants the referendum to be now anyway!
bit of a mess really.0 -

bit of a mess really.
And yet others would feel, as both Brexit and IndyRef2 affect all of us on these isles, that the timing should be fair to all parties concerned.
It's not like it was 100% for Leave across the UK nor was it 100% Remain in Scotland.0
