Does this mean that you have finally accepted that your claim that EFTA/EEA is transitional option "until independence and Brexit is sorted out" is not possible, and that it is both stupid and wrong?

I only ask, because for some strange reason you haven't mentioned that at all.:)

P.s. There is no two year time limit on any hypothetical Scotland-UK independence deal. It will take as long as it takes. I am inclined to think that it will take longer to unwind a 310 year union than a 45 year union. Particularly since one of the parties will have to put a lot of effort and money into creating the infrastructure to operate as an independent state. You might think different.
I'm talking about an independence campaign and the options, in my opinion, Sturgeon and the Yes campaign should put in front of voters. EEA and EFTA should certainly be presented as options during the next campaign. Again, during the next CAMPAIGN.
But why waste the time if the plan is to sign up to the EEA asap. You will only have to junk the deals as soon as you do. Why would anyone else want to waste time on a free trade deal with Scotland if it's only going to last a few years.

With any luck he might have actually listened to what they were saying. Both Norway and Iceland have made very clear statements about the need to be an independent state in order to join EFTA.
    Hence an independence CAMPAIGN.
Why would the UK make a "power grab" for something it already has? There are already pretty well established maritime borders in the North Sea. Here are some useful maps if you are unclear about this.
    http://noke.tk/map-uk-territorial-waters/

Quotas etc for actual fishing are currently set by the EU. Obviously when and if the UK leaves the EU, that issue will be covered by whatever agreement is reached. I wouldn't imagine that existing EU members will be granted more access, so I can't see there being less fish for British fishermen.

P.S. Fishing isn't part of the 'single market'. It's in the EU CFP, which is something quite separate.
Do me and others here a wee favour and either brush up on Scottish politics or else read posts a bit more carefully.

Fishing and Agriculture powers are already devolved to Scotland via the Scotland Act and have been since it's inception. For the moment though control is under the EU. Once the UK leaves these areas default to Holyrood... since, again they are already devolved to Holyrood ( same in Wales/NI for agriculture etc ).

If Westminster wishes control over fishing and agriculture then they will have to write a new Scotland Act repatriating these powers away from Holyrood. However, Holyrood won't vote for this to happen. Not in a million years will they ever pass a new Scotland Act which takes powers away from the Scottish Parliament.

Hence as Ruth Davidson says, there's going to be an almighty political row coming. Is this clear enough for you to understand yet ? There will have to be a new Scotland Act if Westminster wants control of fishing grounds and agriculture since they are already devolved. Holyrood won't pass a new Scotland Act and they need to if it's to become law.

Mike Russell ( SNP Brexit minister ) has just been on Scottish parliament tv reiterating in no uncertain terms that any repatriation of powers already devolved will be opposed robustly. The Greens will support the SNP and there's a good chance a fair few if not all Labour MSP's will too on this issue.

If Westminster wants control of these it will have to over ride Holyrood. This will be absolutely explosive in political and constitutional terms, certainly due to the many promises made by Leave campaigners during the Brexit vote ( see below ).

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I'm actually not angry at all ... scunnered at the treatment but not even slightly surprised ... I do meet people that are angry though and I ask them how this is any different from before ... remember I sit and eat popcorn and laugh at it all ...

Nearly half voted for the SNP in Scotland ... the Tories have 1 MP here an yet Scotland is being dragged out of EU ... there is no getting away with that

Didn't the Tories only get 27% of the vote in the UK ?

Yes, like you I don't worry about it. It only serves to highlight the sheer pointlessness of having Scottish MP's down there. All grist to the mill and they'll be called home soon enough all going well in the next few years.

Salmond was at his firebrand best though. Memories of a certain budget when he was removed from the house lol.:D

    Not bothered :)

Just can't get my head around someone so committed to fundamentally changing our constitution, way of life and standard of living, (for the worse).....then jetting off and leaving us all to it.

    You could always go sooner...;)

Nah I will go when it suits me ... thanks

Yes... the tories are single handedly trying to tear the UK apart .... and labour are supporting them

.. the SNP MP''s were voted in by the people of Scotland and the treatment they are receiving is a slap in the face for the people of Scotland

But many are watching and many are getting angrier and angrier with the way they are being treated

The uselessness of WM for the people of Scotland and the lack of respect for Scotland and it's people by WM ... will all help the campaign ahead

I get the feeling it's going to be a very different campaign from last time

Another one suckered in by the SNP orchestrated grudge and grievance campaign.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

No wonder people in rUK are sick to death of this; I suppose that is the whole point of this tactic though.

    Alex Salmond a hero?

90 votes to 34 in Holywood tonight ... only the Tories backing Brexit if I've calculated right ( might not be right though have lessons for thursday to prepare for and a big exam next week so not got much time )

Even Labour voted with the SNP ... that must've been difficult for them

You can have whoever you want for a hero or is there a pretty approved list of people we must choose from ?

Thankfully I don't need your approval so I will just keep on admiring a talented man
