No, for the hundredth time. I voted to leave based on bettering our economic conditions. So there's no need in trotting out the same tired argument that I'm somehow hypocritical. It might get you 'thanks' and it may be an argument against others but it's not against me I'm afraid.
I want the single market, I am fine with the freedom of movement, I want to do bi-lateral free trade deals because the EU is too inept to do so.
Do you fancy answering any of the questions I've posed? I've not seen any argument against them and I've been reading the start of this thread in anticipation of the 'you're a johnny come lately' line.0 -
My cousin and I ( both politics geeks ) were messaging each other on EU ref night talking about probably going to bed soon as it looked like Remain would win.
Then McTernan tweeted 'Remain will win. Comfortably'. We stayed up a bit longer just to see if Leave might win after all...
Kezia got dealt a terrible hand and I do feel sorry for her too. But she hasn't helped matters much at all. It's almost as if she's just the frontman/woman for Jackie Ballie and other hard line unionists and bitter anti-SNP ex MPs and MSPs. Simply parroting out whatever uncosted wheeze and 'lets get one over on the SNP' policy they come up with next for the Daily Record to fawn over. This Corbyn thing has split Scottish Labour too, unreported as per of course. But you do wonder if the forthcoming council elections will suddenly see a lot of Labour councilors suddenly defecting, or leaving the party in order to stand as independents. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
Is McTernan still relevant at all? It seems to me he's become nothing more than a laughing stock. His Corbyn rant recently made me think he Has totally lost the plot.
Kezia should never have stepped up to become leader. It will be all over for her soon I think. She always said she wasn't in politics long term. Looks like it may be shorter than even she thought. Who will be the next Scottish labour leader? I've no idea, it's a poisoned chalice.0 -
From my limited knowledge of local Labour groups, they're still consumed with anger over the SNP and simply can't see past that. How do they decide the list order for council elections? Labour will still get some because of STV so there will be a lot of fighting over who gets what. Did you see they accidentally emailed everyone on their mailing list asking people to stand for the local elections?0

.
The one that stopped me in my tracks was 'David Cameron is right to reward his friends with honours'. I thought someone had photoshopped it at first.0 -

It wasn't intended as an insult, just a fact. We have gone over and over these same arguments. Economics wasn't top of the agenda for Yes voters.
Do you really think that single market access and the freedom of movement that goes with it will be palatable to the majority of the country who voted leave? I don't. I think you are being naive if you believe that.
I've always asked for transparency with gov figures. Spending/revenues/ uk spending on Scotland's behalf. I've asked on here many times and never had a satisfactory explanation either. It's always been the same, we are subsidised to the tune of millions, why can't you just accept that. I'm not saying we aren't subsidised but I am unclear as to how much. How desperate the uk gov were to hold on to Scotland using the same tactics we saw recently. Only they backfired didn't they......
I'm going to see if I can find a video I posted pre ref regarding Scotland's finances. Our 2 chief economics analysts on this thread were very vague about its findings. I'll post if I can find and maybe you can offer something other than 'interesting' or 'figures can be manipulated'. So, I don't trust the UK gov to look out for Scotland's best interests. I do trust the Scottish gov.0 -

Your wasting your time!
Elantan ....enjoy your "Yestival" :rotfl:
Tricky Tree...you are slowly being exposed to what the majority of Scots experience on a a daily basis; arguing the toss against a minority of pro-indy folks who have no answers to the fundamental holes in the concept of nationalism, never mind being able to justify the financial suicide of leaving the uk.
I appreciate your defence of the union TT. No need to worry, Scotland voted NO.
Shakey, Leanne, Beecher and elantan; you might want to live the rest of your life in a second rate economy; I don't.
I'm out of this thread....ALL nationalism disgusts me.0 -

Yes, I agree. I'm friends on Facebook with a Glasgow city councillor (labour). All he posts are Twitter SNP-bad snapshots. I never respond but often think "and you wonder why you're in the mess you are."
I've no idea how the list works for the council elections. I did see the email - I'd no idea it was an accident ha!0 -
Oh thanks Mollycat that's lovely of you to say
I'm not sure if we will go though as I'm still studying, if you fancy going though I recommend you book early as it will not only sell out fast but you won't be able to get anywhere to stay ( unless you live in Skye that is )

All I wanted to know was, since you were so determined you knew, the reason why Yes voters did so.
It appears you're not willing to share. That's a shame. It just reinforces my belief that you know, deep down your reasoning is flawed and you don't have the courage to admit it.
