Living out of my store cupboard & freezer, how little can I spend to feed my family?

I have used a similar batter for making a saut!ed apple pancake. Jam would be easier and I have a lot of HM jam that needs to be used up. There seem to be so many ways to use a wonderfully versatile Yorkshire pudding batter. I'm so glad I tried this recipe.
In England they sell tubs of dried mixed herbs not sure what you'd have available in the USWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
My vice is YS bargains that really are to good to miss (really!) as I only go for the 5p and 10p ones as I'm often passing at 8 pm which seems to be the optimum time. The downside is they often pile up in the freezer so I'm determined to plan all my meals around them.
Today will be using up 5p veggie which were microwaved and frozen. I've got swede, broccoli and carrots . I'm going to roast the roots with some seasoning and make a cheese sauce for the broccoli (using up YS milk) and we'll have it with toad in the hole. I've got HM soup and YS rolls in the freezer for lunch so this should clear a bit if space. The problem is I take a few things out, turn them into something and often seem to end up putting more back in! At least we won't starve!!
I too like YS and they can accumulate very fast in the freezer and if you take 1 item out 3 boxes can be put back as HM ready meals. But it can be quite addictive getting food so cheaply. Why pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
I should ideally eat of my cupboards and freezers they are both overflowing with reduced stuff.
Last week bought 12 chunks of cheese for 25p each.
That being said its far less than I had a month or so ago in freezer when I could barely close door.
As I said in past I buy like multipacks of butchers meat and freeze it, then when craving something I buy more thinking if its £2 for one pack and £5 for 3 I will buy 3.
I have been craving chicken for months but freezer is so big I can't find it! Must be at the bottom shows how big my freezer is!
I have cupboards full of things like spice kits, balsamic vinegar, noodles etc.0 -

I kept seeing people list mixed herbs as an ingredient and I thought is was whatever you feel would taste good in the recipe. I had no idea it was already mixed.:p Thanks for for sharing this and inadvertently educating me.:)Overprepare, then go with the flow.

From my freezer tonight's dinner is roast beef. Also mashed potatoes, carrots, saut!ed spinach with garlic and I'm attempting Yorkshire puddings.
HM carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The frosting is from a can...afraid to look at the expiration date...does canned frosting expire?Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Doubt it, it's sugar
Hey mila, share a few recipes. Biscuits and gravy fascinate me. To me that's a scone and a cream gravy? But I dunno
Come on, we spilled the beans on yorkies0 -

Not sure as I have never made scones. That should be my next British cooking recipe that I give a go.:)
Biscuits
2 cups flour
1 TBS baking powder
1 tsp salt
8 TBS butter cubed (or 1/4 cup shortening)
3/4 cup milk
Heat oven to 425F
Cut butter into dry ingredients until it looks like meal.
Stir in most of the milk. If not playable add the rest.(you want a soft easy to roll dough but not sticky) turn out on lightly floured surface and knead lightly about 25 times. Roll to 1/2 inch and cut out with floured round cutter. Butter the bottom of a skillet and fit in biscuits or /place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10-12 min until golden brown.
When serving with cream gravy, open in half and ladle on gravy.
I make this for breakfast with eggs and bacon or sausage on the side.
For dinner I usually brown hamburger (mince) or crumbled fresh breakfast sausage and add my flour, s&p then and slowly add in milk. Cook stirring until thickened. Thus it's hamburger or sausage gravy.
Spoiler alert: We have wonderful frozen (raw) packaged biscuits that I now buy. They are as good as HM and a great convenience for making a fast meal.
I also love sour dough biscuits but don't currently have a starter going. I used to make these when the kids were all still at home. Now I buy the frozen biscuits:DOverprepare, then go with the flow.

Sounds like scones are the same as biscuits, only we use buttermilk or milk and a squeeze of lemon
So hamburger, it's that pork or beef mince?
I'm fascinated as I sometimes sit up late and watch diners, drive in and dives and biscuits are on most menus
Where as scones (although we do make savoury ones ) are served with jam (jelly) and double ( heavy) cream and a pot of tea mid afternoon0 -
I felt starving today for some reason, made myself some stir fry with some yellow sticker diced beef I had and added a yellow sticker stock pot to it and some paprika and balsamic vinegar, had no idea what it turned out like but it was nice.
Still felt starving after though so had a minty steak thing also yellow sticker after, lunch today was chicken subway which was a treat.
Still starving for some reason, I think the longer days are messing up my body clock.0 -

Hamburger is beef mince.
I watch that show too! Yes, biscuits are well loved by diner folk and well, almost everybody.
Buttermilk biscuits are made as often as regular.
I'm looking at scone recipes now. Do you have a favorite recipe you might share? Do you whip the double cream?
My Yorkshire puddings tonight were amazing. My guys are now hooked.Overprepare, then go with the flow.
