Beer bread is in the bread machine. My daughter bought beer when she was here two months ago and I have, now, five cans left in the fridge. I'll continue to make bread until it's gone. :D

I have leftover clam chowder, so I googled leftover recipes for using it and found one for making it into a pasta sauce with shrimp. Plus salad to go with the pasta and bread.:money:

    Good job Missy!

Tonight I attempted toad in the hole. I used Nigel Slater's recipe. You have to understand, I'm from the desert Southwest USA. I make Mexican food about twice a week. I had never seen this dish except in photos. But, I had found some frozen 2014 sausages deep in my freezer:eek:
and I had everything else so why not give it a shot? Now, as Nigel says to let the Yorkshire batter rest, I made that first. Later, I browned my sausages in some bacon grease (heart attack in my future?) while my oven was heating. My pan was searing hot and I poured in the batter...without giving it a little stir.:rotfl: I basically
poured in the top liquid of milk and eggs and then bloop! flour goop flopped in! Immediately recognizing my error, I began stirring the batter around with a hot sausage. Oh my! Not a good move.!!
Ok so I've finally got it in the oven...whew! I put on some spinach to steam.
I have potatoes on to mash. I have found some HM french onion soup in the freezer which basically had all the ingredients to make onion gray already in it. Gravy made, mash and spinach made and then I look in the over to see a beautiful sight. It actually looked wonderful.
The family loved it, I didn't use anything I had to shop first for, so I'm counting this as a big success! :o

I'm dragging out the panini press today. I found some grilled T-bone steak with in the freezer and I still have HM beer bread. I thought I'd sautee sliced onions and use up the rest of the shredded mozzarella (freezer) throw on some spinach ( three weeks in crisper but stored in one of those green bags) and make paninis. Make a big side salad and call it dinner.:D

Good for you making toad in the hole, yes you need to re whisk or beat your batter (Yorkshire pudding mix). You can also use the mix just on its own with out the sausage, we like it with diced onion in the batter or mixed dried herbs. Plain batter mix can be served with a spreading of jam.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

Thank you! I was thinking the batter be good with something mixed in like herbs, but diced onions sound really delicious . I'll try that next time and what herbs do you use? I was thinking chopped spring onion would be good also. Or chopped chiles.
I have used a similar batter for making a saut!ed apple pancake. Jam would be easier and I have a lot of HM jam that needs to be used up. There seem to be so many ways to use a wonderfully versatile Yorkshire pudding batter. I'm so glad I tried this recipe.

I need the house sorted before I job hunt properly but so I don't procrastinate I have until the end of the week to do it. I am going to sort each room according to the flylady thread.
I used to do the flylady - it was amazing and really helped me. Im not sure how organised you are or what your hoping to do, but I found out about an amazing woman - 'Marie Kondo' The Japanese Art of Decluttering - seriously changed my life. There were forums on here about her method and there was a you tube video. Good luck.

DD made homemade tortillas last night as she fancied something Mexican to use an avocado that had finally ripened. There was an old jar of salsa in the cupboard (it must have come free as I prefer fresh or homemade) but no wraps or tortillas so she made some and then cut them up, seasoned and put in the oven that was already on cooking dinner for me and OH. A little grated cheese plus some cooked turkey from the freezer sprinkled in fajita spices and she was away.
Sounds lovely. You can add spices to the dry mix, cumin, curry etc., to make a bit more interesting, though your daughters ones sound very tasty, like low calorie pizza - yum. I still have not made these though.

We ate all the dumplings from the dinner last night and have some lovely shredded chicken in a thick savory broth leftover. So, I'll make white chili in which I'll add white beans, cumin, garlic, chopped chiles, and a bit of cream.
    Side salad also.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

My vice is YS bargains that really are to good to miss (really!) as I only go for the 5p and 10p ones as I'm often passing at 8 pm which seems to be the optimum time. The downside is they often pile up in the freezer so I'm determined to plan all my meals around them.
Today will be using up 5p veggie which were microwaved and frozen. I've got swede, broccoli and carrots . I'm going to roast the roots with some seasoning and make a cheese sauce for the broccoli (using up YS milk) and we'll have it with toad in the hole. I've got HM soup and YS rolls in the freezer for lunch so this should clear a bit if space. The problem is I take a few things out, turn them into something and often seem to end up putting more back in! At least we won't starve!!
