Yay for the interview hbs. Hope you get it! Fingers crossed.

At least my old job are happy about me coming back.

I bought an electric bike but am feeling guilty about spending so much money on it so thinking about cancelling the order.

Didn't see your post tea. Yay for your interview too!

How does it compare to your existing commuting costs? Will you be saving on train/bus?

There are 2 options for me. One is to get the train into a hub station, then either get a bus or another train to a station on a different line, but a new a station opened that means fewer trains will stop at the station I need. Or I can get off a stop before the hub and walk from there but it's a 30-40 minute walk.

In theory I can cycle the whole way in but I'm not fit enough yet and I think I wouldn't want to do it in winter.

Good luck for your interviews hbs and tea :)

Happy for you that you're out of the old place code, they do sound awful. Best wishes for the new (old) one.

I think having the bike as an extra option (for part of the journey) is a great idea.....but only in good weather as I'm a complete wuss :D

Today I shall mainly be googling interview questions and having a massive panic about how little I know about anything. On the plus side, this job isn't safety related at all, so it's nice to know I can still get an interview for other things!
  • It's the 7th of April, about a billion miles away in Sussex haha! (I'm near Newcastle, the role is field-based!) Debating whether to hire a nice big car for the drive down or to get the train.

    Electric bikes sound fun :)

Good luck tea! Is it for something exciting?

Wow, that really is a long way hbs!

I do really like the look of the job (but I quite liked the look of my current job so clearly my judgement is questionable!) It's more of an admin/PA type role, which is what I used to do and I'm starting to think that's more me. The parts of my current role that don't make me want to cry are mostly the admin parts. I really don't enjoy the auditing side and being the person in charge, it's just not for me and I wouldn't be at all sorry to give that up.

It's also for an organisation that I would absolutely love to work for, so that's good! Now I just need to work out some sensible things to say.

Good luck for you interviews HBS and Tea.

Code, I can't believe they didn't even get you a card!! It definitely highlights that you're doing the right thing though. Also, the bike might seem really expensive now but how much will it reduce your other travel costs?

I have been watching the London coverage on BBC1. I feel much calmer than I usually do from these kind of events. I am always impressed with the emergency services, but particularly so right now.

code, sorry that you didn't get a card. Although it kind of doesn't matter, it would still hurt me. I remember when I got made redundant, one of my colleagues came out with me and took me for coffee. She absolutely refused to let me be on my own for the first few shocked minutes. Small kindnesses count for so much - they are mostly the things I hang on to in a scary event.

Love the idea of an electric bike. I'd be tempted to say keep it, but as I also encouraged you to change your old job, it is probably best not to listen to me.
