Lambyr - what everyone else has said.

Tea - hugs. . If it's any help I know what you mean. I've started job hunting again. I can't spend my life feeling this crap everyday - and the thought of doing this for the next 32.5 years makes me want to cry. Also hugs for the PMS because that just makes everything way more fun.

((( Lambyr ))) Everything that you're feeling makes total sense. I must be childish too because I like Tea's suggestion. I hope things aren't too awful and that someone else offers to do all of the organising.

    Hope doc's goes well, melly.

Hope your day gets better, tea.

Lambyr, I am sending you over bundles of patience so you can handle the next few days!

I have 3 jobs on the go, in addition to a husband who appears to be on housework strike (he has been working hard) plus loads of washing. So I must get on. I'll be back later.

    Further Lambyr penguin reply

I also like tea's suggestion - kind of privately celebrating that this person is put of your life for good. If the platitudes get to you, you could generalise as much as possible - if someone says it is a shame he died so young, you can respond with something like 'yes, it's a shame when someone so young dies', which doesn't reference that you don't think it's a shame in this situation.

Your mum will be mourning the son she never had and bear in mind that maternal love is a powerful thing so you'll need to balance being supportive with your own feelings, but I think you're going to be able to do that. You've been having hiding your sexuality from your family for years so I'm willing to bet that you have great coping mechanisms to hide your feelings. You can do it for one more day, knowing this negative person is now out of your life for good.

Funerals are cathartic so you can use it to say goodbye to all the negativity he brought without being sad.

Melly, I hope you get on okay at the doc's

WW, that sounds like a very busy day!! Don't try to take on too much and remember that you're working hard too so hard work doesn't absolve DH of all responsibility for housework.

Lambyr - very childish suggestion. penguin If you're going to have to play the part at the funeral, underwear can be a very good silent rebellion. You can make all the platitudes you like, in your nicely sombre clothing, and only you will know that you're wearing something wholly inappropriate underneath. I once took great delight in going to a West Ham game knowing that I had Spurs' underwear on!!

  • Lambyr, I agree with what everyone has written, that we can choose our friends but not our family is entirely apt here.

Melly, hope the doc appointment is helpful.

Tea, rubbish colleagues being rubbish is total PITA, really management should sort that out rather than you having to apologise to all and sundry about people not doing what they're supposed to :( (though I seem to recall you saying your manager is useless as well). Did you have a good week off?

Bit of a calamity at work at the moment due to an external problem over which we have no control, but has made all of our servers disappear from the internet, so sorry if I missed anyone.
