Well, I like escargots, and once you've extracted them from the shell, they are as good as just slugs!
What are the ones you can eat? Ones that have been especially bred and fed on bran?(I just lurve spiders!)

Leopard slugs and Dusky Arions can be eaten, but again they have to specially fed and not out of the garden.

Well, they only really taste of the garlic and oil they're cooked in, but they're nice and chewy. I do like them, but haven't had any for yonks. I think they've gone out of fashion.
You used to be able to get special plates with 6or12 indentations to hold the snails, plus special tongs like eye-lash curlers, to hold the shell, and then special forks with two long tines to wheedle the snail out of the shell. And some nice bread to mop up the sauce with!
Like this:-(I just lurve spiders!)

Well, it is a bit like surgery:
"Forceps" - check
"Prong" - check
"Snail shell" - check
"Ok, I'm going in.............yes, have pronged the snail.............am extracting it slowly, slowly, turning as I go............et voila! Snailectomy a success!"

I haven't read Neurotribes, elsien, but you can 'look inside the book' on amazon. It looks readable to me, but I have already read a lot of autism literature.
Where did you hear of the book?
Some positive newspaper reviews, and it just looked interesting. I just don't have much of a concentration span at the moment. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

That procedure reminds me of my dad showing me how to extract winkles with a pin, Pyxis! It makes sense that it would be similar.
I am very tempted by African Land Snails, Georgie and I would love a hedgehog!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'd need a surgical mask to prevent any of them coming anywhere near my mouth! :rotfl:0 -
I agree with you Georgie. Snails or slugs are getting nowhere near my mouth. Boak!
So work was another long boring afternoon. Couldn't even ask for work as the manager wasn't even in.
From mental health perspective, I think I may be having a bit of a midlife crisis. Not in a I'm going to get a red sports car and have an affair with a 20 year old, but rather in a what on earth am I doing with my life, I can't picture myself doing this for the next 36 years, surely there must be some more worthwhile thing I could be doing instead.Eu não sou uma tartaruga.
