I'd completely forgotten about Cold Feet being back. I saw an advert for it the other day and, as much as I loved the original, I wasn't sure if it was going to be a wise idea for them to bring it back. I also find James Nesbitt incredibly irritating.
Tea - I agree about the This Life update. I absolutely adored the original ones but that was an absolute travesty.0 -
I'm the same, I had to have a little recap!
I would have thought it would have been ok to watch WaS, but if Pyxis reckons not, then maybe she's seeing something that might upset you that I'm not.
Apparently the writer wrote Rachael back in but Helen Baxingdale didn't want to do it....not sure how they would have made it work? Probably like Pyxis says, that's a point where it might have been too over the top with her character coming back as a ghost or something?
Ooo I quite like James Nesbitt Izzy! I think it's that Irish Charm!0 -
I watched The Secret a while ago which was James Nesbitt as a multiple murderer. Really put me off him :rotfl:. I also think he's had some weird work done to his face.0

I think Baxendale was right to desist, though. A bit of that type of thing is ok, but not every week!
There is something funny going on with him, though, and I think we might find he's ill.:(
(That's just my thought, not a spoiler or anything).
Re. WaS, I think they'll be bound to write some sad stuff into it, or people getting hurt in one way or another, etc. That was why I thought WaS should avoid it.(I just lurve spiders!)

Yeah you're probably right Pyxis :A
Do you mean ill in real life or the show?
Just been reading an article on Helen Baxendale not taking part etc, and I was like "you're having a laugh surely?!" when I saw her kids names! The first names are fine, and even the first kids middle name I was like well I've heard worse, but the other two OMG! Ok, first kids middle name is Marmalade, seconds is Mustard, and thirds is....wait for it....MASH!! :rotfl:
Rainy misty day today, so I'm using it as a chance to get the rest of my stuff on eBay, although I'm finding it kinda hard to get motivated.0 -
I was at uni with a guy who called himself Tim. His actual name (we saw his birth certificate) was flowerpot. How is that even legal?!0
-
I don't watch Poldark or Cold Feet but thought Goodnight sweetheart was pretty good.
Been missing from here for a while as boys are home from uni so time has got away from me. I've been doing OK mentally recently although I don't know if that is just because I am crisis coping rush around mood or because things really are OK.
I'll be able to tell in 2 weeks when everything is back to normal ...well our normal anyway! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I sometimes think that famous people should be banned from naming their own children. I know that probably sounds a little authoritarian, but when you end up with the name Fifi Trixebelle Jayne Wellsely Smythe Bumpkin Cuddlekins Jackson III then I'm sure your human rights are being violated somewhere along the line.
I agree, some names are just totally absurd!I was at uni with a guy who called himself Tim. His actual name (we saw his birth certificate) was flowerpot. How is that even legal?!
His first name was flowerpot?? Poor guy! Although I'd have picked a better name than Tim to replace it with....no offence to any Tims out there.
Well, I've now got about 65 items listed on eBay! Thought I'd finished, and now I've just spotted another pile of stuff to list.0 -

Yep! His parents were very.... free-spirited :rotfl: and objected to having to register his birth. They waited as long as they could then registered him with the name flowerpot. The mind really does boggle :rotfl:. The funniest thing was he had a younger brother (same parents) and his registered birth name was Rory. They'd obviously got over the hippy thing by then!
Am so impressed with all your ebaying Georgie. I think I've managed to sell 4 things in maybe 10 years.0 -
The regular (hahaha!) repost of the Etiquette.....(The thread etiquette will be reposted every ten or so pages.)
........:starmod:......................................................................:starmod:.....................
Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..
!!!But first...............please be assured..................................................................******It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. (See below about penguins). In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.******
- This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.
- People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.
- The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!
-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.
Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.
- So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.
"Possible penguin about.........(Type of Trigger)" The trigger might be:- child abuse, marital abuse/violence, paranoia, stalkers, death, etc. (It's important to indicate the type of trigger, so that people can avoid reading it if they need to).
Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.
It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
(Harmless example follows here):-
PENGUIN
This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]
END OF PENGUIN
(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)
IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-
Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.
The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.
We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
.........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................
!!!So, to reiterate..............******It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.******
- More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.
...............Thread Motto...............
