Ugh, sorry to hear that, Melly. Your point is very true, lets hope OH takes it onboard.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

pyx -what is birdlime neutraliser stuff then? I have never bothered to clean the bird cr*ps off my car (despite hubbys protests) and the paintwork is fine (had it 10 years) but I do have a particularly large selection of gifts across my bonnet at the moment which I know has been there for weeks.......what is it you use and what does it do?
Just spent lovely day with my sister, decorating house for nieces 18th birthday. Sister was saying that the girls are driving her nuts (one is 18 tomorrow, the other is 16 and a half) which my sister NEVER says as she loves her family dearly and they have always been very good kids. When the girls came in from their days shopping, sure the 18yr old was stroppy, but the 16.5 year old was constantly, consistently and unbelievably rude to her mum. I was gobsmacked. The last time they visited I pulled that girl up for being nasty and rude to her younger brother, but I thought maybe it was brother/sister thing and her being a stroppy/hormonal teenager etc, but the way she spoke to her mum today was insane.0 -

When I bought my car, ten years ago, the garage gave me a bag with car-care products in it, and one was a can of bird-lime neutraliser. During a clear out, I decided to ditch the spray polishes etc, as I never clean the car myself, (it hurts me to do it!), but I kept the bag and the bird lime spray. (The bag had turned out to be perfect for transporting my portable tape recorder, iPad and associated cables/headphones to AmDram!)
I'd only used a small bit of it once before, as bird poo hasn't been a problem until yesterday!
It used to be thought that it was the chemicals in bird poo that dull the paintwork, but it's now known that it's not the chemicals, but the fact that the warm paintwork contracts around the deposit and that destroys the shine.
Depending on the colour of your car, you may not notice this. My previous car was silver, and I never noticed if the odd bird poo plop changed the sheen. My current car is royal blue, and it shows up every single little scratch and blemish.
Anyway, I used the neutraliser spray because I had it, and it was handy to spray onto the blobs to soften it, as they were pretty set. However, if you have access to water, that is probably just as good. The trick is to get it off quickly, which was another reason I was so annoyed. I'd been in the supermarket about an hour, and it was sunny, so when I got out to the car, it was all pretty dried on, and it was another half hour before I was able to start dealing with it!(I just lurve spiders!)

Have a great holiday Ono!
Pyxis, I think the same birds that Jackson Pollocked all over your car have been and done the same all over my back door! It's covered!
Aww kitten looks cute Melly! Do you think it's maybe best not to encourage it though if it's presence is going to upset tomcat? (And OH)0
