I have tried and tested many water bottles as I have lost my saliva glands and so have to keep drinking constantly and have to say the best brands are Contigo and Avex. Although pricey, you can get deals on ebay and I think they do them in Costco regularly. These are the ones I have currently - in bright orange - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/111382635389?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=122&chn=ps&googleloc=1006886&poi=&campaignid=207297426&device=c&adgroupid=13585920426&rlsatarget=pla-131843261826&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=122&ff19=0
I have to say I would recommend AVEX for both the coffee cups and the water bottle. They can both be operated one handed (great for driving) and they absolutely, totally and utterly, do not leak. They spend most of the day laying sideways in the bottom of my rucksack and not a drop comes out. Currently love my water bottles which also have a caribiner style clip built into the lid so I can just clip it to a strap on outside of my rucksack if it is full. Just thought this info might help some. They are obviously chemical releasing free too, although I should point out that it is actually a bit of a media hype thing with the danger from reusing plastic water bottles. You can refill them and keep using them, but best to change for a new one every month or so.
Thanks HBS - AC/DC all the way here!

My cat Pumpkin licks the tap til I turn it on, and I have a photo of him drinking from it! Waves, Sorry to hear you're not feeling great.. you're so self aware though, it's good that you recognise the signs and triggers, , and maybe some extra anti P's will ward off the episode.
Tory.. well done for going, it must've been hard to face your grief and your fears. People who have suffered a big loss can develop a fear of D both of yourself and others. I am so scared of D, after what I went through in the ICU. And I'm scared of losing the ones I love, too.
I think when you're directly faced with D, it makes the other possibilities more real and frightening. Be gentle with yourself, it must've brought a lot up.
I did the final round of psychological testing today. It was confronting, but I did it. I used to work in the same building in the 90's when it was a general mental health centre, not the BPD/trauma centre. I used to do ear acupuncture for the service users. It was strange being back but with my mental health probs. It made me feel like a bit of a failure that I got too physically and mentally ill to work. But I feel a lot mre hopeful about getting in and I will hear on mon, so not too long to wait. Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE0 -

Of course, the other point about using a permanently reusable water bottle is that you would be escaping from the biggest commercial con trick and the huge ecological problem that is the millions of plastic bottles used to sell water.
In Britain, we have some of the safest drinking water in the world. Yet for some reason, in recent years, we have succumbed to the myth that bottled water is better.
On top of which is the massive problem of the bottles.
Why have we, as a society, fallen for it?
It makes me so cross!
And it's not very MSE. Consider; we pay a lot of money in water rates to have drinking-quality water. Even the water we use to flush our loos and water gardens is the same drinking quality.
And then we go to the supermarket and pay even more money to buy water! In PLASTIC bottles!
It's pathetic!
It's such a con!
"Oh, but it tastes better!" No it doesn't! It's what your palate is used to, that's all.
You can wean yourself off squashes and flavoured drinks. I know, as I've done it. It's the same with water.
And water straight from the tap is a little different from water drawn off and kept in the fridge, or put into the reusable bottle in your bag, so the " oh, but it tastes chloriney" argument doesn't wash either.
Grrrrrrr.
Am in a bad mood just thinking about what a big con it is.
And it's only one step removed from that other health and ecological disaster, the soft drinks industry. Poison.
Grrrrrr.
Shall go back to bed now, with a soothing cup of green tea.

I actually love water and am lucky enough to live in Scotland where we have lovely soft tap water. I drink litres a day and I even like it at room temperature.
Having said that, I also drink way too much pepsi max, mostly because I don't like tea and coffee I think.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
All tap water here and it makes perfectly nice tea. When I remember I empty a bucket load from the water butt to flush the loo with.
Then again, my parents have one of those filter jug things and use it to fill the kettle. I can't tell the difference if I fill it from the tap to make the tea. It does affect the buildup of scale, as their tap water comes off the Chilterns so is half chalk.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

I watched a very interesting documentary on Netflix about all the health issues caused by plastic, which mainly centered around the usage of bisphenol A. (BPA) which was introduced in the 60's.
Afterwards I threw my microwave dishes out, those plastic things with a vent on top. I was unsure if they were BPA free, but they were getting scratched inside anyhow. I also cut down on canned food, as the coating inside the cans is also made from a plastic. I do still eat beans, soup and tinned tomatoes, but rarely.
We also watched another documentary on how plastic impacted the environment which was both interesting and scary.
We're the same as code, and have lovely soft water up here. I very rarely drink it without some sort of squash in it though as it makes me retch just on it's own, and besides, I never seem to feel thirsty enough to want to drink it.0 -
Scale in the kettle means there is calcium in the water, which is good for your bones. That's why people buy "mineral water" in bottles, because there is scale in their kettles...... we have safe mineral water coming out of the taps, for no extra cost! I'm so with you Pyxis. It seems those bottles wash up on beaches all over the world, really, all over the world.
On one of those money saving tv programmes I caught a while ago, they were getting people to taste water that has been in the fridge overnight. For most of them it was a revelation, though I doubt to most on here it was news!
As a small child, it seemed daft to me that flushed the loo with drinking water. Here, we flush with rainwater.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0
