Direct Cremation?

I have always found a funeral helpful as part of the grieving process so this isn't for me as I would hope my funeral would be a chance for loved ones to say goodbye. |If however I was responsible for someone else's funeral but this is what they wanted then I would respect their wishes.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

When cremations take place depends on the rules and practices for each crematorium. It is certainly the case that most in this local authority are carried out after hours. They also have modern cremators that don't churn out foul emissions.
I went to a funeral about 25 years ago in another city where the deceased was a morbidly obese woman. The coffin was the size of a grand piano! This particular crematorium did the burning immediately and as we left the place we had to walk back to the cars through a dense cloud of brownish smoke and a smell of burning fat because of the wind direction. It was extremely distressing for the family to experience this so cremating later on is a good option.
I shall be having a direct cremation followed by a good party when I go. None of this resurrection nonsense for me, I'm happy with the cheapest option possible and no fuss.:dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -
With Direct Cremation I suppose people can attend if they want, or not, and meet in a pub afterwards, with food and drink provided if you wish, or not. You can still celebrate, together with family and friends, and put the photos out and get some flowers.
I was v tempted to do a Co-op funeral plan for a relative, until I heard that they put them all in a warehouse and sometimes send the wrong body to the service. It was all too macabre. :eek:0 -
My sister had a direct cremation and I actually think it's a good idea. We had a memorial service for her in a local hall at a time that suited all of us. We all brought food and drinks, had a service, sang some of my sisters favourite songs, told funny stories about her. I can't tell you how much nicer it was than following a hearse into the crem, then all that following the coffin and 'curtain time' stuff.0
