Windscreen PCN is what the NEWBIES thread is talking about. A fine on the windscreen in a yellow packet or similar (not the 'ticket' you purchased).
I'm guessing I just send an appeal with a big list of reasons in the hope one holds true?

No. The template appeal in blue writing in the NEWBIES thread is pretty basic, only mentions a couple of things. It is all you need at this stage so do NOT try to write your own as that's how soooo many newbies have gone and given away the driver. Don't do that.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi so there lies my worry, the day I got it I sent them this:

Please see the attached parking charge notice issued in error today XXXXX I have forwarded the confirmation of the ticket I bought online this morning at 8:09 before the charge was issued at 8:35.
Could you look into this please, best regards Andrew Thompson.

They then responded with the pdf addressed to Rebecca and another reg to which I replied

Hi Che. Thank you for your mail. however the attachment is addressed to someone called Rebecca and to a different registration. Best regards. Andrew

I haven't specifically named myself as the driver but do you think I've messed up? Should I just go with the stock appeal template after day 24? Or given I've seemingly messed up should I try a different approach.

    Andy

Hi Guys sorry to bump the post, but Friday will be 24 days since the ticket was issued on my windscreen. As my previous comment looking for confirmation of my understanding.

The firm is a BPA member

So according to the newbies thread I should sent the blue appeal template as its around day 24.

It was just whether this was still worth doing as per my previous communication with them, ive heard nothing back. also Im no so sure it wasnt clear as the car park is pretty well signposted.

    thanks

    Andy

No, you mean there are signs up. Of course there are always signs up.

WE mean, the amount of the parking charge is hidden in small print. Not the same thing. It is a standard appeal point, stop trying to remove your points of appeal! Signage WILL be part of your POPLA appeal.

Just send the appeal in the NEWBIES thread and forget the previous email exchange which seemed to go nowhere. Do not amend the NEWBIES appeal. Send it however the PCN tells you that you can (may not be by email). Check the PCN and send the appeal in the format it tells you.

Ok so thanks, they instantly came back with the following

    Good Morning

Thanks for your Email. as stated in your rejection letter it is the end of the internal process.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome please follow page 2 of the outcome letter and appeal further with the ombudsman service.

Sorry we could not do more for you
    Kind Regards,

However as I mentioned before they didnt send me a rejection letter they sent me a letter that said it had been cancelled due to a good will gesture, but the pcn number and registration were incorrect in the letter and the name was to a lady called Rebecca.
So it seems they have made a mistake and attached the wrong pdf.

    I have just replied saying.

Thanks Siobhan, but you have not sent me a rejection letter, you have sent me a letter saying as a good will gesture you are cancelling the charge not rejecting it.

The letter as I mentioned was to a lady called Rebecca xxxx and the pcn was different as well as the registration.

Im assuming there are data protection implications here, as you have discolsed the registration and keeper name of a car unrelated to my pcn number.

It did not reference pcn number xxx1 but pcn number xxx2

I have attached the letter for your reference, and I highlighted your mistake on March 23rd but recieved no reply, and to be clear you have not sent me a rejection letter since I raised the issue some time ago.

Because of your error I am not clear whether the charge has been cancelled as a good will gesture or you reject my enquiry as just mentioned in your email,

    Best regards

You might want to email them and say that if the charge is dropped, as a gesture of goodwill, you will not be reporting their DPA breach to the ICO, the DVLA and the BPA.

They have 7 days to confirm cancellation.

Ok so that did the trick, pretty much sent that word for word and they sent a reply back saying that the charge has been cancelled and apologising for the mistake.

    Cheers for your help chaps.

    Absolutely brilliant :T.

Over three years of doing this stuff and almost 9,000 posts in, at last a bit of my advice has worked! :rotfl:

Praise the great parking God in the sky. :)
