    Good morning all,

It's been a busy and lovely weekend. The weather was mostly nice so I managed to enjoy some of that whilst helping in my mums garden again and doing other bits and bobs.

I leave on Wednesday for a stag do in Ibiza. I've saved my money (been saving for a year on YNAB) and that should be plenty, although Ibiza can be very costly if you go to certain places. Last time I went I bought me and my GF at the time 2 x vodka red bulls and it was 52 Euros!!!!!

My mum very kindly bought me some new holiday clothes on Sunday, so i shouldn't need to buy anything. Probably left it too late anyway.

Which means today goes ahead as normal. Gym > work > football.

Nothing much else to report for now. Still not heard back from the jobs I've applied for,

I think I've just fainted at the thought of 52 euros for a couple of drinks

How do you think I felt!!!

1 day to go and I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be good to chill out and switch off from work for a bit.

So, I'll see you all on the flip-side (Tuesday).

    Morning all,

I!!!8217;ve returned from a messy trip to Ibiza with good news and bad news. The good news is that I under spent. The bad news is that I still don!!!8217;t feel 100%, despite landing back in the UK on Sunday night. It was a brilliant weekend spent with all my best mates in a really cool place so I!!!8217;m really glad I done it.

Not got too much planned for the remainder of the week apart from hosting a business dinner tonight and an engagement party on Friday. The engagement party may take a hit on my bank balance by the time I buy a small gift and perhaps buy a shirt or shoes, but these can be afforded given the money saved from the holiday.

Aside from that, I plan on fully recovering and doing little else.

    Goooooood morning,

    Im still alive. Clinging on.

Internet ate my post - twice - yesterday. With that and this random "!!!8217;" thing that pops up every time I use an apostrophe, Im loosing the will to live.

    Ok, so lets talk finances.

The headline is this - Im doing ok.

Like Ive mentioned before, thanks to YNAB, I know that all my bills are paid, so I sleep easy at night knowing that. Given that even this can be a difficult task for many, I give myself a pat on the back.

But, theres a long way to go.

Im not able to save very much. If my boiler goes or I get a flat tyre, I'll be borrowing from the bank of mum and dad again. And I genuinely hate that and I'll never forget the money that I owe back to them. So what do I do?

    My plan for the 2nd half of this year is the following;

    - Apply for new jobs that are higher paid
    - If and when I get a job offer with more money, ask my current employer to match it if they can
    - Continue to save small and regularly (Xmas, emergency fund etc)
    - Earn extra money when possible

Now, there's an obvious way to half most of my expenditure - and thats to find myself a Mrs Spekysquarehead. I have friends who live with their girlfriends and they pay half the mortgage/bills/food etc. I feel bad that thats an important reason for me to settle down.

    Am I going mad?

What about a lodger? You could charge a set fee per month to include bills and they just buy there own food.

I did it a few years ago and it kept me afloat whilst I was selling my house.

I'd try and find a lodger as well if I were you. There are loads of other complications that come alongside living with a partner, and it takes time and getting used to. Although I am incredibly bitter with my own situation at the moment and perhaps not the best source of advice as far as living arrangements are concerned.
Pleased you've recovered from your weekend away.

CCL & Louby, thank you both. I'll check out that website in a minute.

I have thought about a lodger. The thing is, my flat is far from huge, so Id have to be very comfortable with the other person (and vice-versa). Also, I dont live in the city centre, so Im not sure what the demand would be like either. Perhaps Im making excuses. I promise Ill investigate and give it serious thought.

My weekend just gone was nice

Friday - A close friends engagement party. Left at midnight and walked home.
Saturday - Cleaned the flat, watched the football and then enjoyed a takeaway with the above friend and his fiance.
Sunday - Visited my dad for Fathers Day, done the shopping then enjoyed a Chinese with my mum and co, instead of a Sunday roast.

My week ahead is quiet. Very quiet. Ill get back into the gardening at my mums and catch up on a few things too. Ive a few more jobs I want to apply for so Ill do that on Tuesday.

    Have a good week everyone!!
