Hello everyone,
I’ve totally tuned out from everything internet related the last week and a half. In that time I enjoyed a week in Mijas, South Spain in mid-thirty degree heat, watched the Old Firm (although let’s not talk about the result) and started my new job today CCL.
Back to reality now. On the spending front I’ve got good news; firstly I came back home with 100 Euros which I’ll convert back to sterling and put in my savings tin that I’ll open at Christmas time. If that was exciting enough, I received a text from my old manager to wish my luck in my new job and as a thank you for my service, she gave me £750 on top of my remaining holiday pay!! Unbelievably kind of her and totally unexpected. I’ve allocated most of it to go towards the credit card (which I’ll pay in the coming few days) and a little amount towards Christmas and a little toward the GF’s birthday next month.
Slowly getting back into the YNAB way and keeping spending to a minimum. My new work have a cracker of a caf! on site so I’ll need to prep my meals to avoid lots of small, daily costs.
Anyway, I think that’s most of the news on the financial front. As ever, I’ll update you all as and when possible.0 -
Welcome back.
Good luck in the new job - hope the first day went well and you're doing really well to keep up with the meal planning. Might be worth allowing yourself a payday and/or mid-month treat in the cafe if that would help - and it would work well on a gym night to save you having to do a major cook later.
And fab news about your unexpected windfall - it'll pay such a big chunk of the debt and that will get you nearer to all your money being your money. Well done all round.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Morning,
Been a quiet few days here. Getting my head down at work, which is going well. Everyone's very nice. There's an onsite cafe which offers fresh food for the staff between 12.00-1.30 at really cheap prices. This is all good and well but when I'm trying to get my NSD's the temptation doesn't help - even if I bring my own food in.
I read Marie Kondo's book while on holiday and so a big clearout is due soon. Fresh start in my job, fresh start in a new gym and so a fresh feeling home would be welcomed too. The book suggests starting with clothes and I know for a fact that most of mine won't "spark joy". Some of work clothes are over 5 years old. Tired. Well worn. Shabby. So it needs investment given the new job and all that.
Tomorrow my friends and I are going to Ayr Races for the Gold Cup. We go every year and it's always a good laugh. I'll take a set amount of gambling money and once it's gone, it's gone. Nothing excessive.
So I know today and tomorrow will not be NSD's which leaves me Sunday which I have no plans. Been asked to play golf but of course, that means spending. I'll play it by ear.
Anyway, back to work. Have a good weekend everyone0
