Strange paint bubbles on pained kitchen wall? what are they?

Options
Hello all

Hoping someone can help, some strange bubbles have appeared on kitchen wall, they appear to have air in and if you press them the paint breaks off it. What are they and how can I fix it?

Hope someone can help.

Here are some photos of them.

    Have you recently painted?
Could be the paint hasnt adhered to the surface underneath for some reason
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Looks like there might be a crack under there that is letting in moisture. Are there any cracks on the exterior?

The original paint hasn't adhered properly to the plaster below, probably due to a crack. Leave it for a day or 2 to see if it settles. If not you may have to scrape it off, fill the crack, fill the wall so it is smooth then paint the repair to match the surrounding wall.

If it is wall paper under the paint then a different approach will be needed!

It was painted in September last year just before we moved in and there was nothing on the wall but gradually those bubbles have gradually appeared and getting worse. What colour paint does it look like to you.

No wallpaper is behind there that I know of.

Dont think there are any cracks on the exterior, maybe there are but maybe not, maybe there are cracks in the wall behind the paint. I dont know.

So I just need to scrape off the paint and fill any cracks that are there and repaint over the part I have scraped off?

What filler will I use for the wall?

Any surface filler filler will do - poundland stuff even - premixed is easier for a small job

If there is moisture ingress or the crack is slowly widening, it won't take long before its visible again after a repair.

ok I have stripped the part of the wall with the bubbles, so do I now just do as you said. please look at the new pics in this link.

Looks like hardboard under the paint but not sure, what does it look like from the pictures?. Is there a certain type of paint of oil primmer for hardboard

Do I just use white paint or white paint and primmer and gloss? or I have read that I may need to undercoat it but what does undercoat mean?

What type of paint should I use? etc?

cOULD I just use a paint brush or is there a certain type of brush I need to use?

there were no cracks in the hardwood.
