DBAN not working
Comments
-
DBAN has been a problem for me in recent years too - if the device has other drives detected by the BIOS, it causes DBAN to fail.
There's lots of other people having this issue too. Solution is to physically remove the other drives (like 7-in-1 card readers etc) - which isn't exactly easy.
I've been looking for a better tool tbh - Blancco exists, but isn't free.0 -

What?! You said you installed a Linux distro over the entire disk to "open doors for further OSes".
You don't need to install Linux and then wipe Linux from the disk in order to install other OSes.
Anyway, if you're not reinstalling Windows, and you're only installing Linux to "open doors" for a different OS, what OS are you actually trying to install? FreeBSD? Solaris?
What problem prevented you from installing the OS you wanted in the first place before you tried using Linux to open doors?0 -

thanks
to re-iterate, you don't need to run DBAN, just reinstall W7..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
can anyone explain why ?0

can you explain where you got the idea that dban was ever necessary, and why after three weeks you are persisting with the false idea that it still is, after being told half a dozen times it isn't.
It's a tool that a tiny percentage of geeks used to overwrite disks before disposal in case a future geeky owner with far too much time on their hands decided to scan the disk for snippets of data that haven't been overwritten. It is not a tool that a geek (who knew what they are doing) would ever consider using to facilitate a windows re-installation
Windows formatting can zero fill disks
You aren't selling it (as far as we know)
You can't get dban to work anyway.
if you need to clean the car and the car wash isn't working, use a sponge, video instructions in post 3Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0
